1024x textures & models (Base | RoE) - File Description

Description:
This is a simple, if not large mod...

Originally developed by Saducimus, it has been fully completed & updated for all textures & models by Dafama2k7. Essentially, 1024x textures & models will increase the size of all textures & models to 1024 X 1024; The skins have only been increased in size, not modified in any other way.

This is definitely something you should should consider using as a base for your own skins, Dafama2k7 has hit it right on the head with his statement: You will LOVE the amount of detail that will be possible!

Refer to the readme for installation instructions.

But i have also the .TGA uncompressed textures version, but it's too big size 1.5Gb. !

Maybe i will try it to mix with Parallax Extreme mod, but they needs .TGA textures (image_usePreCompressedTextures 0) and this mod needs image_usePreCompressedTextures 1 for .DDS textures so better i will compress to .DDS the .TGA local texture files from Parallax Extreme to mix both mods an make an Parallax Extreme 1024x mod using .dds textures so also it will be faster and smaller in size ! smile

Honestly, I appreciate your effort but I think for the most part the mod in its current form doesn't do much.

You have to remember that simple bi- and trilinear texture filtering will accomplish about the same thing-- make surfaces look smoother. I'd recommend doing some more with these, perhaps add a little noise, maybe overlay some interesting surface textures. Normal maps might benefit some from just a simple resize, but the diffuse textures will pretty much bog down your system with minimal if any visual improvement.

Really i was waiting for your comments, if i know a better way but not hard work for me to do it i will do it, but to increase this way the size of the textures was very easy for me, if you can give me some idea i will be very happy ! smile

I can definitely give you a start-- I have some unreleased ultra-high detail skins for a lot of the character models all set, the exceptions being a 75% done Swann, and completely unfinished Betruger, Campbell and some other misc. characters. I also retooled a few character skins, for example the guy in the last shot. Working on the wonky specular on his legs.
Sample shots:

If you have an email or something I believe I can send you my work.

As for making these-- Done in a couple of afternoons (maybe 1 per face, give or take) by taking bits from all the high-resolution face images I can get my hands on, with some major help from FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod for HL2. Great place to get source material from, right up there with Qarl's packs for Oblivion, specifically QTP3. I definitely did have to do a lot of stretching and scaling work for everything to fit, but I believe I did a good job.

I have removed all xxx_d.dds files, because the transparent ones where previously not appearing as transparent, but as solids, so i removed them until i can find a better solution for this.

Also i have asked permission from TheRealSceneGraphManager big artist and developer of the awesome work on a new human 1024x skins for D3 to be added on this 1024x textures & models mod next update !!! Thanks ! smile

You do me too much honor smile

The lack of transparency would probably be caused by a lack of a (correct) alpha channel. Had something similar happen to my plasma gun after I fiddled with it. If you have a copy of Photoshop or similar, open up your new texture and the original. Then go over to the little 'channels' thing and copy the stuff from the original texture, paste it into the alpha channel of the new one and scale to fit. Save and you're done wink
