Alpha Mod <Update> (v1.1) - File Description  


Description:
Here it is folks! Hot off of Dafama2K7's harddrive...the update for his super popular Alpha Mod v1.0! His latest contribution to the Doom 3 community is this download of D3 hugeness, chalk ram full of Doom goodness and some serious good time-adventures!

    What makes the Alpha Mod unique is that it contains many new items, such as:
  • Textures
  • Sounds
  • guis
  • And more

It is the claim of Dafama2K7 that the sounds and textures contained in this mod are better then what is found in the stock version of Doom 3, and that the playability is better...but don't rely on the spoken word, download it and find out for yourself.
    What does this update do?
  • Fixed some missing and damaged files.
  • Fixed monsters.
  • Fixed thud sounds.
  • Better use of the textures of some new models.

D3_alpha v1.1 update




Version History...:

v1.1 update

Fixed missing .def files damage.def and moveables.def.

Fixed monsters, thud sounds & removed old bad .md5xxx anims !

I have now fixed black boxes, make use of more things from E ...and... 3

Fixed melee & thud zombies sounds.

Better use of the textures of some new models.

More E3 sounds used.

Better Particles, fx, materials...



v1.0 First release

I have still to fix the black doors.

I have still to fix some sounds, guis and textures, make more E3 like things...

I have to put some better A.I., but keeping the feeling of E3 release.







This is a mod that contains textures, sounds & from varied resources & another mods, try it, it's big, but it is worth every bit of it, sure !!!

Many sounds and textures are much better than original Doom 3, not all, but in next versions i will update and fix any bug or bad sound, texture or gui...

I personally think that for some reason D3 seems even more playable, it is like playing the E3 2003/4 official video but on modern Doom 3, try it and tell me, what you think...

Thanx Id software for making this number one game !!!





Intallation...:

Easy as 1,2,3, only drop the d3_alpha folder into Doom 3 folder, NOT base and start Doom 3, select d3_alpha from the mods list and your ready !!!

This mod needs the next command to be activated first, from the doomconfig.cfg or autoexec.cfg better...:

set image_usePrecompressedTextures 0

To be able to see the textures has to be "0", ok !!!

I have already made this in the configs, but to be sure i let anyone know this !!!

If enabled from console then has to restart the video doing this...:

vid_Restart

That's all !





Warning !!!...:

This mod requieres always to be set the "image_usePrecompressedTextures" to "0" in the Doomconfig.cfg or better in the autoexec.cfg, included, but i tell you just to be sure, because the better textures only can be seen using this command, and then make vid_restart !

If you can view the weapons and monsters and some map and objects textures different then all is ok !!!




Note...:

This mod doesn't need any patch or update, but better you have at least Doom 3 v1.3.0 or higher installed !





Mmmmhhh, boy, gnnnngghhhiii ahhh, uh, oh (zombie language ;-)) !!!

I'v downloaded the file and the pics you put on but when it was finished I put the files in and run the mod and it stops loading and this appers on the command bar.

Error:file script/weapon_handgrenade.script, line24 :unknown event 'getIdealweapon

I don't know if I did some thing wrong please tell me how to fix it or fix it in a new patch because I really want to play it.Cry

Hmm i think this is a patch alone...You have to dl 1.0 (440 mb FTW) then you put this in your alphamod folder.

I'v try it again and did what the Thenewbie said and my game is up to date its I think v1.3 but i tried it and the samething came up I don't know if theres a file missing or something happened when Dafama released the mod/update.

Hey im getting a problem from this update.... Ive installed it onto 1.0 and done everything right.

But when i select this mod i get a message saying Mode not Supported from my moniter (it tweaked with the settings and no change) (im getting sound though just no image)

All other mods works but this isnt.....

i installed this update and i still get black boxes, i deleted your keybindings because i like the vanilla ones, but yea, those boxes and doors errg me into quiting alpha,
so its 400 meg about and still all these bugs, hmm..........

Don't worry, i will try all we say, thank you, and i will have it fixed for twesday !!!

Do not desperate because it is worth it, i am playing with this latest update and is fine for me, but i will try to test in another puter and to recreate different configs in my own.

This errors have to be easy, someone put some file wrong or something, well i go to investigate, stay tuned...

Obsolete .pk4's...:

pak008_maps.pk4 (has to be exact name, not similar)

zgame_base09.pk4 (has to be exact name, not similar)

There are other .pk4's similar, but do not do nothing for them, only the two previous ones...

The weapon_handgrenade.script have one line that only runs on v1.3.1 or higher Doom 3's, you can open the .zip file pak008_maps_d3alpha.pk4 with winRAR or WinZIP programs and into the scripts folder remove the file named weapon_handgrenade.script, with del key or BETTER edit this file with any ascii text editor and remove or better comment the next line...:

scriptEvent string getIdealWeapon();

You can remove it or comment it like this...

//scriptEvent string getIdealWeapon();

And save the file and write it in the .pk4 file and that's all, i think...

You can open the pak008_maps_d3alpha.pk4 with winzip or winrar and enter into def folder and remove the monster_demon_imp.def or better comment some lines refferred as ROE only !!!

Anyhow, i will put a link with all this bugs fixed in just a few minutes...

This fixes all the previous things users are complaining and also a small bug on the Wraith.def file that is the same that was in the Imp.def.

Ok I'v finaly got the mod to run but when I play the game it is screwed up. the menu worked fine but when you play any level the graphics are showed as different colors, the weapon doesnt show up and the controls are messed up and when I change to a different setting and restart it resets its self to default setting. I can just say its bug ridden its frustrating so please fix.CryCry

use this site for the alpha mod its all pictures but it maybe useful look at the maint zombie and look at his facial expressions his jaw opens and closes like he try to talk or bite this or the marines expression is what Im hopeing for so PLEASE USE THIS SITE its has every aspect of the game + its the only place where I can find pictures on the alpha version. DOOM III alpha rocks.

With the "normal" DOOM I don't get this error...

First i have to say sorry, i wanted to give to ourselves this mod i was playing and feeling great and i was too much fast to upload, and because my Doom 3 base folder has many additions (.pk4's), i don't see some of this small but molest bugs.

@Langenscheiss First, if i am not wrong, i doesn't disabled the Brilliant Highlights, and also i do not enabled the Parallax, but, just in case, anyone can view if in the mods folder there are any .pk4 file containing the parallax word, if it exists just delete it or better rename it...

@daaz Also, the Shotgun model was one of my priorityes here, but the E3 model is not the same has the actual model and is in an old version, if someone know how to convert this models i will be enabling many more weapons and monsters/zombies...

Anyway, i will try to put the E3 textures of the Shotgun in the actual Shotgun, but i don't know if this will run.

@Glue54 thank you for the screenshots, i have D3E3 running in my puter, and i am seeing this same images, but in movement, yes, are amazing, and the zombies and demons have many expressions and attack movements that are great, i need a tool to convert this version 5 models to version 7, and also a tool to convert .D3T compressed textures to .DDS compressed textures, i am trying to find this things...

@z3d81 what is the name of the sound that fails, i will investigate, but let me know this...

Ok. Regarding the error. I have a bunch warnings about some sound files. Is there a way to write all entries to a log file? Because if I make a screenshot you cannot see all warnings...

In the mod folder will a file named qconsole.log containing the logged warnings !

Can't you import the alpha's models into Maya, then export them for Doom 3 Oo ? I will reinstall the alpha version on my pc to check this out but I'm quiet sure I've seen a maya plugin in some folder...

I don't have maya but i will try it !

Also, i have already put the skin of the Shotgun in the actual model, but it is better if i can use the old model for this skin.

I can't find this model in the D3 Alpha v0.02 at the moment, i have to investigate, and i will make a new update as soon as i can with more good things...

I have just made the .zip file for the new D3_Alpha ROE and when i take a look to the Mb. size, i see it's...

666 Mb.

I'ts like saying do not play this mod, will be dangerous, the beast is inside !!!

I am not inventing this, it just has happened to me, this mod is marked by Evil...

Anyone that think isn't good to play things like Ouija, can be sure that isn't safe to play the D3_Alpha v1.2 ROE & base, you have been warned !!!

I for one don't believe in superstitious numbers and such, though I would never conjure demons from Hell with Ouija. That's a totally different thing. Not only does my religion expressly forbid it (Nazarene Hebrew), but my morals are also against such things.
Anyway, dafama2k7, I was watching the YouTube video of the Doom 3 Alpha, and noted how much faster the monsters - particularly the zombies - were. Does this mod make them that fast? It would definitely make it more Alpha-like... (I'd test it myself, you see, but I don't have a good-enough video card - not to mention the hard drive space at the moment - so I can't play Doom 3 - still... (Three years is long enough, though.)
Anyway, I wish you the best! Keep up the good work!

Not only the Zombies will be faster, also the Trites and Ticks and Cherubs will be, you will have to run and retreat, trying to keep your life, and i would making many other things.

I have added the Empty.map from Alpha3, it's was recompiled for normal D3, but the others will be much hard.

Also i am changing the monsters in the bathrooms to be more E3.

I am actually playing at level Erebus5 of D3_Alpha_ROE, it's incredible !

I will upload the booth v1.2 latest update soon !
