A modified shader for Doom 3 and RoE that updates Doom's graphics to a more modern day level.
NEW awesome specular and reflections very, very enhanced and pushed up !!!
Note...
Do not confuse with the BHNG mod also originally made by Maha-X and constantly updated by me, both are based on the same techniques but with some very important changes, so i decided to update both on a different mod everyone.
Cool Shaders require an ATI or NVidia gfx card with OpenGL v2.0 or higher.

History of releases...:
v1.0 - Public release.
- SpecExp is now slightly upped from 3 to 4 for maximum but real nice reflections.
- Fixed a little bug introduced when NG was converted into Cool shaders.
- Removed all my custom Autoexec.cfg files for easy of use of this mod.
- Based on latest BHM_NG shaders release, this shaders now exports new reflection feature much better reflection implementation that the half angle feature i was using on most of my latest shaders since version one.
- Cool shaders was born with my own custom updated reflection feature based on the test.vfp orginal shader, but mixing it with my custom half angle instead of pure specular and this shaders mod was made.
- Full Parallax support thanks to BHM + PE heritage.
- Two version, one is interaction.vfp for generic/ATI gfx cards use and another, test.vfp for custom special NVidia version, much faster, used when r_testARBProgram cvar is set to 1.
Older releases from BHM_NG...:
v0.3.4 - Full public release.
- Small fixes and optimizations for the shader.
- Lowered the normalization and specular, previously i was pushed this
too high !
- Gained detail with new ETQW alike shaders features !
- Bettered the specular mip-mapping.
- Removed the Ambient light technique i was added to all my shaders for this
shaders, Brilliant Highlights by Maha-X, because this cool shaders have his own custom backlight feature that is even better.
v0.3.3 - Full public release.
- Natural aspect, ETQW alike.
- Fixed bugs.
- Removed redundant memory eating code.
- Lowered the previously too metallic look.
- Lowered the previously too oil, brightened alike look.
v0.3.2 - Full public release mod, trying to make an already excellent work by Maha-X
even better !!!
- Mixed the best features of the interaction.vfp and test.vfp together to create an AmazinG BHMOD NG shaders, with 25% NEW code, both versions ATI/Generic and NVidia only.
- Better lightning, specially for ATI/Generic version this time !
- Updated the ambient light and bumpy environment a little.
v0.3.1c - NOW updated by DFM (Dafama).
- Added the TheRealSceneGraphManager Chromatic Dispersion Heat Haze shaders.
- Added Maha-X new techniques.
- Added latest NG shaders techniques !!!
- Removed a bug and bettered the BH code a little.
- Added latest Enhanced shaders techniques, (i can't add the
latest NG shaders techniques to BH :( at least at the moment.)

What is it?

A modified shader for Doom 3 and RoE that updates Doom's graphics to a more modern day level.
This new version should correct problems with the new 8000 series Geforces also.
Features

# HQ specular highlights #
- Power function based falloff
- Dynamic falloff (shinyness)
- Specular map masking
- Per-pixel Halfangle math
# HQ Normalmapping #
- Normalmap normalization increases bumpmap quality
- Normalmap filtering reduces specular aliasing
# Other FX #
- "Backlights" add realism by casting subtle light behind objects, as in reality, light tends to reflect and shine back from surfaces it hits.
- "Pocket shadows" creates shadows into the dents of the bumpmaps.
Beta status
------------
Untested for Radeon hardware! Should work "by the specs" but this hasn't insured anything in the past.
So how do I install?
--------------------
Drag & drop the mod folder to root directory of the game. (Remove it to uninstall.)
Try the kp_slash key to select what shader is used to your taste. (Default is the
ATI/Generic one.)
Uninstall?
----------
Delete the previous folder you created above.

Of course, this will have no effect neither to me and neither to the best user community in the world, so, come on, do whatever you want, we are invincible !!! |

dafama2k7 From: (Salt (Girona)) Joined: September 28th, 2006 Posts: 3067 | I want to let know to all D3 & Q4 users following my works that i am currently working on many new mods and shaders for this two games, specially D3 & ROE, for instance i have found one important bug in this BHM shaders and the latest Cool NG shaders released also a couple of days before...:
1- This bug makes the Parallax support on my latest two shaders stated before to NOT work correctly with Parallax textures, so it is not usable for Parallax yet.
2- The shaders works 100%, the only bug is Parallax not working, but the other features work perfectly well.
3- I am currently working on fixing this Parallax bug to this and to all my latest shaders, it's my first priority now, and then send it here on d3filefront to post it as soon as i can.
4- When this is done and published i will again work on my mods to add better more realistic weapons behaviour and finally enhance the A.I. to make it a challenge ! |
