Classic DOOM 3 Original Mod Soundtrack - Readme
Readme File:
Hello, Sonic Clang (Brian Kline) here. What you have in your possession is a zip file containing all the songs from the Doom 3 mod 'Classic Doom 3'. I made every song but E1M9, which was made by Thumpmonk. The process started in March of 2005 and I was finally done around September of 2005.

I’d like to talk a little bit about each song if you don’t mind. If you don’t want to read this, just close it and listen to the music. For anyone who’s interested, I’ll give a little info on the making of. ?

Classic Doom 3 Theme song:
I initially started making this song in November of 2004 for heXum’s 'Executive Quarters' level for Doom 3. It was my first crack at recording real live drums. Before this I had only programmed drums. heXum and I went for a while without any communications and I thought he had dropped the EQ project and in the meantime Gazz from Flaming Sheep Software contacted me about making the music for their mod. They said they wanted a theme song that would fit the style of the old Doom music and I said 'Hey, I’ve got this song I’ve been working on that probably won’t get used… yad yada' so I kept working on it for another month to end up with what you’re hearing now. Soon after finishing the song up, heXum e-mailed me and asked if I had that song done… woops. Thankfully I had a version he could use and a version we could use in cdoom so they wouldn’t sound exactly the same. In the end everyone was happy.

E1M1:
Of course this was the song everyone was waiting for. I think this is the song people think of when they think of Doom music. If I messed this one up people wouldn’t even care how the other tracks sounded.
I actually started working on this song the weekend Gazz first contacted me. He asked for a sample of this. I worked 8 hours straight JUST recording the lead guitars. After sending him the sample of what I recorded they accepted me into their team, but I re-recorded everything again because I wasn’t happy with it. Through a pain staking process I finally figured out how to get a better drum sound and finally the song started to sound like something.
I pretty much was going for shock on this one. When people would load up the first level I wanted their jaws to drop. That’s where I got to the idea to do the little shred at the beginning. The rest of the song is pretty much an exact remake of the original except it was played on real instruments.
This is definitely one of my favorite songs in the game.

E1M2:
This is one of those 'atmosphere' songs that people really don’t think much about when they think about the Doom music, but it adds so much to this level. To me, this song is just as much 'Doom' as E1M1. But I wasn’t quite sure how I wanted to go about recreating it. I was thinking 'NIN – The Fragile' on this one. It has a bass guitar, but everything else is very synthesized. The first thing I did was played bass guitar to replace the bass line that was in the original. That alone changed the sound quite a bit. Then it was on to the drums. At first I actually tried playing them on my set, but humans vary in tempo just slightly… just slightly enough to throw off the feel of a song like this. So I decided to record my snare and kick drum and use those 'samples' in place of the ones in the original. The only thing I redid after that was the low strings that go side to side. I actually recreated all of those by hand. After I had all that in there I listened to it and didn’t really think it needed much more. This was one of the fastest songs to get redone.

E1M3:
This would be another one of those 'atmosphere' songs. I used some of the tricks I learned when I remade E1M5 (I didn’t make these songs in order) on this one. I was able to use the original midi, put it through my keyboard, change sounds to whatever I wanted them to be, pan instruments left/right… it was all real easy but effective. Again I used my own drum samples for the drums.
I always feel like each song, no matter if it’s in a game or on the radio, has its own 'gimmick'. That one thing that makes the song unique. In this song I felt that one thing was the hi-hat and cymbal work that come in half way through the song. I knew I couldn’t use anything programmed for that, it just wouldn’t feel right. I decided that I’d actually play them on my set. The first crack at it was pretty much testing out ideas. 'How did I want to play them' I had to ask myself. My friend Pete came over the next day and pointed out what he felt were the strong points. So I concentrated on what he suggested. With him in the control room at the computer, I went into the live room and played what I felt fit best. It just so happened that my first take was my best and we ended up going with it. It’s not too often I go with the first take of anything. I’m proud of how this song turned out. It has some synth stuff and some stuff played by hand.

E1M4:
The rock songs were all created 100% from scratch. I didn’t use anything from the originals in E1M1, E1M4, E1M6, or E1M8.
This song sounds easy enough on the surface, but have you ever tried playing these drums??? I actually had to print out the sheet music and play along reading it. But there was something missing from the original. During the little rests between phrases, Bobby used cymbals, or rested completely. Redone with real instruments it sounded kind of boring and plain. So I had to make up fills on the drums to put in those spots. They’re not complicated, but they definitely add to the song. Besides the drums everything else was easy. The guitars and bass fell right into place. But one night after getting all the music recorded I was lying in bed and I couldn’t help thinking the song needed something, it needed one more component to be complete. As I was falling asleep I was listening to the song in my head and for some reason, out of nowhere, I heard an air raid siren during the 'chorus'. The next day I found a sample of one on the internet and threw it in. I loved it! ?

E1M5:
This song by far was the easiest to remake. It was actually the first song I completed for this project. I used all the old midi to play my keyboard. I transposed parts, created new harmonies, changed sounds, panned sounds… I loved how it was sounding, but I felt I was cheating a little too much, so I thought I’d throw something in there played by hand. That’s when I picked up my guitar and started jamming. I came up with a part and recorded it. I think the guitar in this song gives it almost a 'James Bond' type feel. Someone else said it sounds like music from 'The Matrix'.

E1M6:
This was one of my least favorite songs from the original game. I always thought it sounded kind of cheesy. But holy crap when I first listened to the whole thing after I recorded the drums, guitars, and bass, I never knew this song would rock so much ass! It turned out REALLY cool! Very rockin’. The only thing I didn’t get done the first night was the opening chord. I had no idea how I was going to do it, until the second night when I actually figured the chord out on the guitar. It’s nothing I could play live, but in the studio with my foot up on something and the guitar pulled up into my chin I was able to hit all the notes. The only thing was that the chord didn’t sustain long enough. It needed to come in strong, fade off a little, and then come back thunderous as the drums did the fast beginning fill. So I recorded the chord, and then simply reversed it and lined it up with exactly where the guitars come in. It turned out perfect! The chord hits, fades out just long enough, and then thunders back in.
The only other complicated part in this song was that opening fill on the drums. I’ve never considered myself to be a drummer. I’m a guitarist who happenes to be able to play the drums. The one thing I’ve never practiced was fast fills. But I knew I couldn’t program this, and I also knew I HAD to get it right on. I didn’t really like what Bobby programmed for the original, so I just jammed. Over and over I tried figuring something out, and just when I thought all hope was lost I got it. I hit record and did it perfect my first try. That was mid summer, if you asked me to do that fill now I’d have absolutely no idea how I did it. :D

E1M7:
I’ve never liked this song. I feel it’s one of the weakest songs in the original game. When I first showed the guys what I came up with after a night’s work, the first comment I got was 'That actually sounds quite… horrible.' The saw tooth lead that goes through the whole song was just awful, like nails on a chalkboard. I hated it! So I decided to replace it with something a little more smooth… the piano. I didn’t just want to do a single note the whole time, so I transposed the part an octave and had the high part coming in and out to compliment the bottom note. That was really the most thinking I did in the song. It turned out better than the original but I still don’t like this song very much. ? Sorry Bobby.

E1M8:
Ahh yes, E1M8. Besides E1M1 this was always my favorite. That lead 'guitar' just killed me back when I first played the game. I had been saving this song for last and I just couldn’t wait to get going on it. But I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do for it. The original was pretty thin in the rhythm section. The only real rhythm part going under the lead was the choir sound, and I didn’t want to do that. After I got to thinking, the only part I wanted to use was the lead. But then what to do for the rhythm??? I picked up my guitar and just started jamming to the original song. For this one I was thinking 'Type O Negative' all the way. So I tuned my guitar WAY down and just started cranking out some power chords. It was starting to shape up in my head, I was finally starting to see where I could take this song. I recorded what I had for rhythm guitar ideas and walked away for a couple days. When an idea is new it’s like a baby, you have to get it grow up.
When I came back to it a few days later I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the drums and guitars. After I had them all recorded I pulled out my keyboard and started figuring out some string parts for the choruses. I wanted the first and second chorus to be different so your ear would have something new to listen to as the song went on. I had the idea of following the lead guitar on a lone string note for the first chorus, and then for the second chorus just play some chords. I’m all about harmonies and finding melodies in stuff, the string stuff was pretty easy. I felt there was still something missing though. I thought piano would go great during the first verse, so I threw that down. Then I listened to the whole song and I swear to God and everything that is holy I heard piano during the chorus… but I hadn’t recorded any yet. I stopped the song and listened to the chorus again and still I SWORE I heard piano. I decided to figure out what I was hearing so I could actually record it because it was so cool! Everything just added up on this song. Everything just sounds right. I took the most artistic liberties on this one and I’m the most proud of it. I even made up my own ending in a very 'Type O Negative' style. We released it the week before we released version 1.0 of the mod and it was number one for the week on d3files.com almost the entire week. That was a huge accomplishment for me. All the hard work was starting to pay off.

Conclusion:
Recording these songs has been an extremely rewarding experience. I’ve met a lot of really great people, albeit online, but still very cool people. I learned a hell of a lot about recording music. I was still figuring out how to record real drums when I started out. I hadn’t worked in a mod team in years. There were some frustrating times, but the rewards far outweigh the bad times. I had to spend a lot of time away from my wife and I’m glad she was so understanding. Many other wives would not let their husbands spend so much time on something he’s not getting paid for. For that I’m extremely grateful.

There has been so much talk over the years about how certain songs in Doom were inspired by other artists. Everyone knows 'E1M1' was inspired by 'No Remorse' from Metallica, and there are others. But what people don’t realize is that there are songs on the radio every single day that either sound like other songs or were inspired by them. People make such a big deal about the Doom songs sounding like a Metallica song, but it really isn’t uncommon at all. You find inspiration in those who inspire you. When you write your own stuff you can’t help but have that affect you. In remaking these songs I was inspired by bands that I listen to. Dream Theater, NIN, Type O Negative, Slipknot. It’s a circle that never really ends.

And finally, once again I dedicate my work on this mod to one of my greatest heroes, Dimebag Darrell. His music changed my life. Everything I’ve written after hearing 'Vulgar Display' has been influenced by him. RIP Dimebag.

Excellent compilation. Thanks for putting it all together, it's a real blast listening to it. You have done true 2005 justice to the original ID scores, and that is a big feat.
I am gonna burn it and listen to it my car. Puke!ockfrownliterally)

the "original" mods music? this is the original mod and the only music we have used. Its awesome if you even like metal just the smallest bit. If you cant see the skills that have been put into action while making these tracks then you really dont have two legs to stand on. Even if you dont like the type of music , you must at least realise the extremely high quality and level of professionalism that all of the tracks have.

The original GAMES music was based on late 80's - early 90's metal at the time. I and many MANY other people who have heard SonicClangs music agree that this definatly does justice to the original midi tracks that were simply beeps out of a PC speaker back in the day. I would post link after link after link to pages and pages of compliments that this music has recieved, just because you dont like it, does not mean that it "sucks".

Haha. This IS the original mod music. This is what you get in the game. I simply put it in mp3 format and zipped them all up.

#6 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 12-17-2005 at 16:47
Oh yeah, one more thing I forgot to mention in the readme file: Since the songs in this file aren't being listened to in-game, I've done everyone a favor and looped the very beginning of each song at the end and faded it out from there. It makes it easier to listen to when you burn it to a CD. I've been listening to these songs for months now and it always sucks when the song just CUTS OFF at the end. smile So, cheers.

fantastic work and thank you for releasing these as high-quality mp3s. Respect

My favorate is E1M8. Rock

#9 - Posted by: LethalVirus (Member) on 12-17-2005 at 19:49
You guys should remake DooM II music (especially M09)

#10 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 12-17-2005 at 20:45
I won't be remaking any more Bobby Prince music, sorry. I mean, I love the guy's music, but remaking someone else's work for 7 or 8 months straight is enough to drive you crazy. smile

#11 - Dude - this rocks! - Posted by: WHairston (Member) on 12-17-2005 at 23:03
Awesome work - it's obvious to anyone who listens for more than a few seconds that you're a dedicated fan of the game and a talented musician. Great job! RockRockTwo Thumbs Up!

Just for fun, I've been listening to some of the individual cuts from the "Dark Side of Phobos - Doom Remix" album some guys posted last summer, followed by the same tune's remake from your CDoom album. It kinda gives a light, jazzy "lead-in" to the heavier, more faithful tunes you've provided here - makes your tunes sound even that much more intense - kind of like reaching the end of a level and facing the boss.

#12 - Posted by: PABLOMESSIER (Member) on 12-17-2005 at 23:11
well one of my favorites is e1m9 but np if is not there i´ll try to convert it to mp3 format. Rock

#13 - Posted by: raheel (Member) on 12-18-2005 at 00:26
I know you probably won't do it, but think about making more remixes. I wish I could get an obediant clone of you and get him to remake all doom music. smile
Your scores have gotten very high ratings and tons of downloads.

#14 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 12-18-2005 at 08:19
E1M9 is in there. Thumpmonk remade it, but it's definitely along the lines of a "remix" so it doesn't really totally sound like the original all too much.

 #15 - Posted by: Neurological_1 (Member) on 12-18-2005 at 08:31
You know, I love your work, very good, I've already burned in a cd wink

#16 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 12-18-2005 at 08:47
Thanks neurological, right back you man. Rock on!!! Rock

#17 - awesome music - Posted by: barronOfHELLION (Member) on 12-18-2005 at 10:57
well actually i couldnt wait for them to release the music , so i went into the pk4 files and then took out the ogg's and then downloaded a ogg codec for windows.. oh well i have both sets now.. this music is what made doom DOOM, and this mod makes doom3 feel more like it should be

#18 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 12-18-2005 at 11:01
Thanks barronOfHELLION. Yeah I've been telling people to download this zip if they want the music because I did the fade outs at the ends of the songs, which makes it easier to listen to, plus I put all the time into writing a "making of" document that some people may find interesting.

 #19 - W-O-W! - Posted by: The_Bozz (Member) on 12-19-2005 at 05:20
There's some really BADASS axework in there, dude! These are goin' directly to my pendrive!

Awesome work! 10/10!

 #20 - good music - Posted by: mastermind_thee_cruel (Member) on 12-19-2005 at 14:13
may i use some of these songs in episode 2 im trying to recreate lol smile

i give this a 10/10 had the feel of every single song in episode 1 Rock

#21 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 12-19-2005 at 14:58
That wouldn't really sound right if you put these songs in the episode two levels. You'd be better off using the old midi for that, unless you can find someone willing to recreate that music like I've done for E1.

Thanks for the compliment. smile

#22 - Posted by: Benzo (Member) on 12-30-2005 at 20:37
This music got me really super pumped when I played Classic Doom3! My favorite track is E1M8. I'll burn a few CDs of this for my pals to listen to.

To mastermind thee cruel: search ocremix.org for The Dark Side of Phobos. It has the complete soundtrack for original Doom episodes 1-3. The tracks don't resemble the original songs as accurately as Sonic Clang, which although it isn't a bad thing.

doomsdayhq.com and doomworld.com also have links to more doom music.

#23 - Posted by: Nazxul (Member) on 01-10-2006 at 23:59
Man, these are great. You did a superb job of recreating these tracks to sound modern but keep the original feel they were intended to have. Even the tracks you didn't like came out sounding brilliant!!

I know you said you wouldn't comsider redoing the music from the rest of the game, but you know, it's not really as big a task as you might think because the rest of the episodes reuse a lot of the earlier tracks. Quite a few of the tracks in episode 2 come from episode 1 and by the time you get to episode 3, there is only one or two tracks that need doing. And there's episode 4 which has none of it's own music whatsoever.

Anyway, food for thought. I for one would absolutely LOVE to hear your take on the rest of the tracks from this game. But no-one can force you I suppose. Great job, once again!

#24 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 01-11-2006 at 14:07
Interesting thought... I had forgotten so many of the songs were repeated in the other eipsodes. I'll play the original game again and see how I feel about it. Still, don't hold your breath for any more Doom remakes from me. smile I've got original stuff ya know, and i'd really like to make more.

Thanks for the compliment too man, it really means a lot.

 #25 - cdoom3 theme - Posted by: Mehen (Member) on 02-19-2006 at 13:47
Just probably because he forgot; I thought I should mention that the cdoom3 theme song also sounds like it has a VERY strong Tool influence (listen to Triad on Lateralus).
I found it funny because the Doom3 theme also sounds like it has a VERY strong Tool influence (listen to the title track on Lateralus).

Great work on recreating E1M1-M9 - loved em all.

#26 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 02-24-2006 at 12:05
That was intentional. I was originally making that song for heXum's Executive Quarters level. When he asked me to make it he said he had wanted to use Triad from Tool, but he couldn't actually use it for obvious reasons. He asked if I could make something that sounded similar to it. I listened to the song one time and walked away for a couple days. I started jamming on my guitar trying to match the feel of what I remember the song sounding like. At that point I couldn't remember what Triad sounded like at all, I just remembered the feel of it. It took me about 2 or 3 months to write, arrange, and record that song. Once I was done I finally listened to Triad again and I had to laugh at how similar my song is to theirs. smile Oh well, that's ok. It was just a warm up for remaking all the Doom songs.

#27 - Posted by: Mehen (Member) on 02-24-2006 at 20:59
well, if you are going to use anything as a basis for a kick-ass song - might as well be Tool!! Rock

 #28 - Posted by: jack_rebney (Member) on 03-14-2006 at 16:42
only one or two riffs sound remotely like a tool song and the rest is hostory

dont kid yourself because tool is overrated

#29 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 03-15-2006 at 06:08
Jack, don't make me have Bluehair remove your post again.

 #30 - NICE - Posted by: Stratosfear (Member) on 03-16-2006 at 18:59
Awesome job on these songs, have you tried remaking music from other classic games?

#31 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 03-22-2006 at 19:24
Not really, I've only done the Doom songs. I'm kind of moving on from games though at this point. I've been spending a lot of time trying to finish the construction in my recording studio. The project is 6 years old, so it's time to get it wrapped up. More than likely I won't be doing any more Doom music, or any other game music for a while.

 #32 - lms - Posted by: uchihasasuke (Member) on 04-23-2006 at 22:31
QUESTION:: will they have the lms music??

#33 - different team - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 05-01-2006 at 14:44
That's a different team and different musician/musicians. I made the music for Classic Doom 3, which is included in the 3.0 release of LMS, but the music for their mod specifinally was made by someone else.

Go to their forums at lms.d3files.com and ask them.

 #34 - Posted by: 00Aero00 (Member) on 06-03-2006 at 15:36
Tool is the shiznit...no offense but if the main menu song didnt sound that close to tool it wouldnt mean crap to me....and to the guy who said Tool is over-rated....guarentee u dont even listen to what maynard is saying, or even be able to understand what he is actually talking about..Right over ur head Roll Eyes (sarcastic)

 #35 - Awesome! - Posted by: CyberRaptor (Member) on 06-16-2006 at 21:20
I'm glad you guys put the soundtrack up for download; it was really cool. Thanks, I'm listening to it right now.

 #36 - You're welcome - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 06-19-2006 at 18:33
You're very much welcome. I made the music for the fans. I love giving out my work for people to enjoy.

#37 - This ROCKS! - Posted by: Epipsychidion (Member) on 06-24-2006 at 00:23
Clang, I've just finished downloading and am listening to your work for the first time now. All I can say is WOW!!!! This is brilliant work my friend, and as a result I'd love to hear any other stuff your have done/are doing.

Interestingly enough, E1M5 has just started playing, and I find that it reminds me a lot of Cradle Of Filth (which happen to be one of my favourite bands).

Congratulations on the great work, and hope that there's more to come!

#38 - Posted by: DescentJS (Member) on 07-06-2006 at 23:38
all I can say is that I hope you do infact remake more of the music, because these songs whoop ass.

#39 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 07-07-2006 at 15:42
If anyone would like to follow me/my work, I've started using myspace quite a bit. For the moment anyway I'm using http://www.myspace.com/sonicclang But since I set up that profile incorrectly I may have to make another one that is set up as a "featured artist", so that will more than likely be /sonicclangmusic

Thanks again guys.

Dag Yo! That guitar inro on e1m8 is better than I could have asked for. I've searched high and low for that song cause I remeber back when, it gave me freakin chills up my spine. I would have sequenced it differently and put in a few bars of the original weak **** drums, just for a build up to the kickass thrash that you came up with. Hats off to you bro. Rock

#42 - Thanks man. - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 07-25-2006 at 09:31
Thanks man. I really appreciate your kind words. I knew I had to do something special for that song. It's awesome it gave you chills. smile

#47 - Great music! - Posted by: Mikaufoxy (Member) on 11-18-2006 at 01:43
As a longtime fan of Doom, I must admit that of the many Doom remixes I've heard in my time, I must admit that these tracks are absolutely mind-blowing. And for those who don't like the music, let me say this now; it's obvious you have a dry taste in music and don't appreciate the fantastic remixes.

Thank you kindly for sharing your tunes with many of us alleged Doom fans.

#48 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 11-18-2006 at 08:01
Yer welcome! Don't be bugged by anyone who doesn't like my tunes, they're in the minority. But I like to hear all feedback, even the negative stuff, because it makes me better in the end.
Don't forget to check out my myspace page!!! http://www.myspace.com/sonicclangmusic and my band is going to start recording our LOOOOONG-awaited album after Christmas, http://www.myspace.com/duskofmind

I've put together the first of a few instructional videos for the Classic Doom 3 music. This one is for the main rhythm guitar in E1M1.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-cDc6z_S7E

There'll definitely be more coming.

Rock Two Thumbs Up! Just love the music.Brilliant cool

#53 - More on the music oh and Tool - Posted by: csdust (Member) on 03-05-2007 at 11:50
The music is great. And to whoever stated that Tool is overrated... You're in idiot. Sorry, they're famous and you're only an **** for saying that. And I'm pretty sure they did the theme song for Doom 3 >.< IE Vicarious. So think before you talk. And on that note, this music has a great and original sound, matches the original perfectly. Thank you so much for the time and effort here. Good luck to your future projects.

#54 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 03-06-2007 at 06:58
Actually, Tool didn't make the theme song for Doom 3, that was Chris Vrenna and his band Tweaker. http://myspace.com/tweaker
Thanks for your kind words about my music. You should check out my latest project, I'm recording an album with my band. http://myspace.com/duskofmind .I've posted it here before but I just figured I'd post it again for anyone who missed it smile

 #58 - Posted by: wim_vg (Member) on 04-27-2007 at 14:32
My fav is definately E1M5... it describes the exact feel of the early DOOM and what it stands for :-)

#59 - My relatives would LOVE this - Posted by: thepit42 (Member) on 06-20-2007 at 21:07
My relatives, and friends, live in California. And I'm going to surprise them with this CD because they'd go insane on how cool this is. I'm going to say "Tell me if you recognize this tune" and blast out E1M1 or E1M4. Hell, even E1M8 they're all great, especially M8. They'll get a kick out of this. Thanks for taking the time to put forth not only such a great tribute but great couple of songs. Same with you Thumpmonk Good stuff.

#60 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 06-20-2007 at 21:47
Very cool. show it to everyone you think might like it.

#61 - Posted by: Betrugersmaid (Member) on 07-12-2007 at 07:10
I'd like to be the one person to really thank you, and appreciate what you've done. Some of the songs, I admit, you took quite of a bit of artistic liberty, but you preserved enough Doom to keep me jammin' for a while.

Good job! And what is with the air siren? stick out tongue stick out tongue stick out tongue

#62 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 07-17-2007 at 19:57
The air siren came to me in a dream. I wanted one extra little thing to finish the song off. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it smile

I really only took artistic liberties with E1M8. The rest were all VERY close to the original, just with real or updated instruments. Thumpmonk took liberties with E1M9.

 #63 - badass.... - Posted by: Sduibek (Member) on 09-01-2007 at 14:38
***** yeah, this is so badass. Best remix of Doom music ever. I really liked the .OGG version a dude had floating around the 'net (used mainly for Jdoom) but this is way better. Well done, mepimp: rock on!! m/

-SduibekRock:

 #64 - heh. - Posted by: Sduibek (Member) on 09-01-2007 at 14:41
Oops, i messed up the emotes pretty bad stick out tongue

Some examples if you aren't familiar with the OGG remixes i mentioned:

http://www.fileplanet.com/31796/0/0/0/section/Music

Anyhow. I'm continually amazed at how good your versions sound. What instruments and/or gear did you use to record and create this? Was your recording done on a PC (high end soundcard for example) or actual studio gear? I dabble in recording myself so i'm very curious smile

In any case, very awesome. your efforts were definitely worth the payoff smile

 #66 - NIN Quake - Posted by: Ice_Trey (Member) on 10-02-2007 at 16:56
try out the soundtrack from Quake by Nine Inch Nails, it suits these maps suprisingly good smile No offence but all these metalguitars gets kinda repetitive after like 2 or 3 maps

#67 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 10-05-2007 at 20:34
If you want to play Quake, play Quake. If you want to play Doom in a modern engine with music remade to sound like the original, play this mod. I personally can't stand the Quake soundtrack. Any soundtrack that's just a bunch of noises couldn't be more boring to me personally.

#81 - Posted by: Menschenfleischwolf (Member) on 08-28-2008 at 05:13
o.O why so much? lol... bad joke ...

For this amount of money you could do episode 2,3,4 and doom 2 music ....

why you dont say $1.000.000.000.000

damn, that was an offer to you ..
why are you making a joke of it?

#82 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 09-09-2008 at 06:49
Because I don't want to remake any more Doom songs, plain and simple. Almost all the songs follow the same chord progression, which is basically the 12 bar blues. They're all the same. Once you've done an entire episode of Bobby Prince songs, you don't want to do more. I'm working on new projects now that are way more exciting than remakes. Google "Quake Rebellion". It's a Doom/Quake CG movie I'm making some music for. This movie is going to be awesome!!! I'm so excited for people to see it. It'll be a few months yet, but it'll be worth the wait.

#83 - Clang we have an issue. - Posted by: dfm2005 (Member) on 09-27-2008 at 14:48
It's sad you don't want to make any more doom songs, i like your versions alot. But I want to hear how you would of done e2m9.

Mystery meat was ok but i think you could of done better. Retire from doom after you make that one.

Also why are these ****s rateing your work 6.9 nothing but retards.

classic doom Rock the soundtrack is awsome

 #86 - Okay - Posted by: lef2409 (Member) on 07-15-2009 at 09:56
I didn't really care for this soundtrack. It didn't sound anything like the Doom 3 I played.

 #87 - Posted by: Yuuki_Minoru (Doom 3 Files Staff) on 07-17-2009 at 19:55
lef2409 - This is the soundtrack for Classic Doom 3.

Doom 3 itself had only one piece of music, the menu theme. The game audio is all ambient mixed sounds.

#88 - Posted by: SonicClang (Member) on 07-29-2009 at 13:14
Wow, lef2409, you're QUICK! Yeah, see Yuuki's comment for clarity.

 #89 - Posted by: Ice_Trey (Member) on 08-19-2009 at 20:26
"If you want to play Quake, play Quake. If you want to play Doom in a modern engine with music remade to sound like the original, play this mod. I personally can't stand the Quake soundtrack" Good thing then theres something called FREEDOM OF CHOICE innit, another good thing is the knowledge how to open up the maps scriptfile and deleting the ref to the uberload heavy metal innit , that way one can actually HEAR antthing besides a lot of "cool" guitarchords innit, and the ref you made to NIN being "lot of noises" proves to me what kinda "musician" you are

#90 - Best DooM music ever created! - Posted by: MPDPsycho (Member) on 09-18-2009 at 15:09
I just registered so I could post this to Mr. Sonic Clang personally.

I know you are reluctant to but will you ever reconsider completing all the songs from Doom and Doom II? You are a legend now with this album alone, but believe me if you complete all the songs you will walk as god among men.
