Description: Dafama2K7 has been keeping himself busy, much to the delight of the Doom III community; With his latest corrospondance, he has sent in the newest updates for his popular singleplayer mod: D3 Alpha Mod! This update will work with Doom III Base only!
This mod is for anyone that enjoys Doom III, but want a little more out of the experience; Once D3 Alpha is installed, among all the other changes, you'll begin to notice that some sounds and textures have been changed, and could be considered better then the stock Doom3 version.
Some fixes in this version include:
- Fixed Bernie, they now has a new fireball.
- Fixed Char_Sentry; smarter and doesn't stop at random places like before.
- Fixed Enpro bridge.
- Fixed Double-Shotgun.
Dafama2K7 has worked long and hard to provide the latest version of this mod to the Doom 3 community, which is chalk ram full of Doom goodness and some serious good time-adventures! ...But don't rely on the spoken word, download it and find out for yourself.
Some changes included are:
- New SFX sounds for many weapons, npcs, doors and environment.
- New Weapons:
- BFG: will be more like the weapon_DMG from Quake IV
- Shotgun: Similar to the one from Fear.
- Machinegun: Now has a better skin, more accurate and optimized, similar to the one from Fear, but better sound.
- Chaingun: Like the one from Fear with better sound.
- New A.I. for all monsters

v1.3 base & roe updates
Added better white particles for smoke, like in E3.
Added better & smart A.I., specially for Wraith and any jumping monster.
Balanced some weapons and monsters.
Fixed Enpro bridge letting them to open/move.
Next Generation GFX for D3 thanx to Brilliant Highlights by Maha-x and improved by me.
NEW bump-maps and normal mapping thanx to D3-Alpha.
NEW SFX sounds for many weapons, npcs, doors and environment.
NEW A.I. for all monsters, smart and they now don't throw fireballs in very close range, only in middle to long range, jump more and are more aggressive !
Specially Imps and Vulgars, faster running, tweaked phisics to let them be able to kick anything at they're pass !!!
Also Maggots, Wraiths, cherubs, trites, Hellknights and Hunters improved in one way or another...
Fixed Bernie, they now has a new fireball and they used more and on any SP/MP levels.
Fixed Char_Sentry, smart and doesn't stop on some random places like before.
Removed Allyed-Marines from base v1.52 and up, because they eat too much memory for the base version, i prefer to add another better things than to keep this.
NEW weapon_BFG that will be more like the weapon_DMG from Quake IV, this weapon features are dragging any objects/monsters/npcs closer to the fireball ! (But this version is not based on BFG_Vortex, this a different approach
made by me.), also with better FX particles.
NEW weapon_shotgun and double_shotgun fixed, similar tor Fear one.
NEW weapon_machinegun, better skin, more accurate and optimized, similar tor Fear one and better sound.
NEW weapon_chaingun, like the Fear one and better sound.
NEW weapon_pistol, more accurate, better skin, better sound.
NEW weapon_chainsaw, reduced the light radius.
NEW weapon_rocketlauncher, changed sound for missiles.
New Ragdolls for the Forgottens and LostSouls...

I have to put some better A.I., but keeping the feeling of E3 release.
This is a mod that contains textures, sounds & from varied resources & another mods, try it, it's big, but it is worth every bit of it, sure !!!
Many sounds and textures are much better than original Doom 3, not all, but in next versions i will update and fix any bug or bad sound, texture or gui...
I personally think that for some reason D3 seems even more playable, it is like playing the E3 2003/4 official video but on modern Doom 3, try it and tell me, what you think...

Intallation...:
Easy as 1,2,3, only drop the d3_alpha folder into Doom 3 folder, NOT base and start Doom 3, select d3_alpha from the mods list and your ready !!!
This mod needs the next command to be activated first, from the doomconfig.cfg or autoexec.cfg better...:
set image_usePrecompressedTextures 0
To be able to see the textures has to be "0", ok !!!
I have already made this in the configs, but to be sure i let anyone know this !!!
If enabled from console then has to restart the video doing this...:
vid_Restart
That's all !
Warning !!!...:
This mod requieres always to be set the "image_usePrecompressedTextures" to "0" in the Doomconfig.cfg or better in the autoexec.cfg, included, but i tell you just to be sure, because the better textures only can be seen using this command, and then make vid_restart !
If you can view the weapons and monsters and some map and objects textures different then all is ok !!!
Note...:
This mod doesn't need any patch or update, but better you have at least Doom 3 v1.3.0 or higher installed !

New AI for all monster ? Anything to do with Unpredicable mod ? Or it's different ?

@Mindless_Intelligence - NEW AI it's more or less based in the same, but with some scripts changed very little, basically it's the same.
@WereWolf700 - Can you explain in what map and moment this script error happens ???
Anyway, here is a quick solution for you...:
From Windows enter the D3_Alpha mod folder and enter also into the script folder, then edit the file named doom_main.script with an ascii text editor and search the line named...:
#include "script/ai_monster_demon_imp.script"
And then add this next line and save it...
#include "script/ai_monster_demon_vulgar.script"
All done !
The smoke from the shootgun is fantastic! Manifico!!!!outstanding!
I like the A.I., smoke and particles of FEAR and i will add more an more of this things in comming versions, also see the Revenant missiles explosion smoke, barrels and many other smoke already tweaked, try it !!!
Coming versions also all monsters melee will do blood splats !

NEW Feature...:
My next mod will contain an A.I. that goes out of your screen and jump at you and kills everyone !

When I load the mod this error comes error: file script/doom_event.script line 180 unknown event getIdeal weapon

How can I fix this? First your unpredictable ai mod dosent work on my computer and now this. what the hell is going on?
hey dafama2k7 I fixed the problem All I had to do was install the 1.3.1 patch but I still have problems and questions.
1. Is this basically like unpredictable AI mod?
2. Why is it when I exit the game and come back the controls and video settings are changed back.
3.I`m having sound problems theres no sound for the pistol, shotgun etc. the reload sounds are there.

1- The A.I. is basically the same with small changes.
2- The sounds and textures, models and many other things uses another E3 files.
3- Sound problems for the weapons, this is very rare, it's running fine on mine, i will investigate and i will help you if i can or fix anything that could be fixed.
A quick solution you can try to gain the sounds maybe to enter in the d3_alpha folder's mod from Windows and remove or rename the folder named sound, then try if this solves the problems.
To be able to change and keep the settings you will have to write-enable the file named Doomconfig.cfg into the d3_alpha mod's folder. Make the changes and then write-disable again, because this file contains important settings for better gfx quality that D3 have a bug that removes some of this settings on this file, because of this i keep this file write-disabled.
Also for small settings changes that don't require a video restart can be used another file in the same folder named Autoexec.cfg

Is this mod compatible with polish version of doom3 ? I had English version before but not well original... now I have original but I can't run any mod with this *****.... but I have original CD-key

Right when I load the mod from the Mods Menu it crashes:
ERROR: Error: file script/doom_events.script , line 980: Unknown event 'getIdealWeapon'
Here is a quick solution for you...:

You should prepare a new edited Main doom3 file or a new map pak 008 for the rest of us. Editing isn't for everyone and most do not have the knowhow.
This is a fantastic mod and more people will enjoy it, if you provide us with the correct script file.
Kurwa!!! I am still getting the error messages "ERROR! joint 'machinegun' not found for attaching 'idAnimated' on monster_zsec_machinegun_22' ".
I can't play beyond Underground mars city2.
There's also at least two doom_main.script in two different locations in the folder.
a .zip file containing the .pk4 files needed will be available tomorrow more or less !
I have the same problem with the sound fx for the weapons. Could you please post a fix. I tried what was suggested earlier.

Sound on the guns is now working. I installed 1.0 then 1.3 then 1.31 and now I have installed 1.32. Anyway I now have the same problem with the game crashing when it trys to load Mars City 2. FYI.
Joint machingun not found for IdAnimation on zse machinge gun 22 (or something like that.)

Hey guys don't give up on this mod.
Before I release a mod, I do the following things to make sure it works properly:
1. Make sure the base folder doesn't contain any files except those from the CD installation disks and official updates (currently up to 1.3.1 patch).
2. Turn on god mode and run through all the levels to make sure no problems arise.
3. Toggle the console frequently and see if any WARNINGs have been listed. If there are warnings, I either do what I need to fix them or at least make sure I know why those WARNINGs are there. The types of WARNINGs that are safe to ignore go something like:
WARNING: file 'blahblah' previously listed in file 'blahblah'
and
WARNING: sound file 'blahblah' has shakes and uses OGG file blahblah

I'm looking for d3 roe alpha mod v.1 & v.1.1 I cant find 'em.
Now, the crosshair now shows the npc names and i will add all the features of the standard version progressively...
The Plasma, Chain and BFG guns have new FX and good looking GUIS.
The RocketLauncher gets a more rusty look.
Fixed Sentry not attacking the enemies at times.

ALWAYS include an obvious statement in your mod-pack somewhere that declares that you must install a previous version of a mod before installing another.
With the absolutely huge file size of the 1.3 patch version, and no indication that the 1.0 version of the mod needs to be installed first, it's caused quite a few headaches for myself and others.
Alternatively, release a mod that is COMPLETE in and of itself so that only a single download and is required. I appreciate all the hard work that has gone into this mod, and it does look wonderful. Just make that last little bit of effort and tie it all up neatly!
Otherwise, kudos for all of your hard work; it's made replaying Doom3 a lot of fun.

this shows up each time i try to run the mod. I installed the above updates, but it still doesn't work. What should i do?!
Is there any way to play the E3 maps with this mod? Using the console map command I can only load empty.map - all the other maps contained in the zzd3_alpha.pk4 have loading errors . I have Doom 1.31 installed with all the d3_alpha mods and updates installed over the top of each other up to 1.32. It would be really nice to play the original Doom 3 alpha game with this mod - from the name that's what i thought it would do. Thx for any help.
