Delta Mod (1.0) - File Description  


Description:
- most weapons and monsters retextured using alternate, high-quality parallax texturing
- many surfaces & environment textures enhanced
- new high-quality sounds for almost all weapons, much more powerful-sounding, sounds altered to be less annoying in some cases (like the annoyingly loud chainsaw idle)
- improved gore effects, new flesh wound effects for shotgun, player bleeds, decals and blood stay much longer
- new, realistic-looking flashlight textures and effects
- more lighting effects from firing weapons- makes it easier to see while firing
- new particle and lighting effects for almost all weapons
- weapon damage, speed, etc tweaked but balanced (examples include 1-shell loading in the shotgun)
- weapons knock enemies back slightly more
- improved ragdoll system
- improved enemy AI
- gibbing system that makes sense and doesn't leave heaps of FPS-hungry-bullet-ridden corpses blocking doorways and detonating grenades
- new, better-looking crosshair (the fragger one)
- no flashlights on weapons
-improved physics for all movable objects
- shotgun spread decreased (more realistic), but balanced by increased recoil, less projectiles, less damage etc.- feels very fun, yet still fair
- grenades are now toggled, and aren't ridiculously bouncy
- interruptible loading for all weapons
- optimized for minimum drag on performance

I. INSTALLATION

Create a folder in your Doom 3 main directory and name it "delta". Extract the included .pk4 file into this folder. Run Doom 3, go to mods, and enable it.

II. FEATURES

- most weapons and monsters retextured using alternate, high-quality parallax texturing
- many surfaces & environment textures enhanced

The best part is that this mod, unlike many of the other combination mods out there now, is designed not to detract from the experience/environment at all and also to provide more challenging gameplay via enhanced AI etc.

III. STATEMENT

I take no credit for any of the material in this mod since I got almost all of it from various other mods. This mod is basically a combination of the following, optimized to function correctly together, and with a few personal tweaks and subtractions:

Honostly I like the original pinky better. Just becuase its name is pinky doesnt mean its actually pink, i think it looks kinda gayish. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I agree. The pink takes the scare factor down by about 25%.
However, kudos to the author; this is still very well put together.

even though the pink takes away the scare factor... the pinky IMO is the counterpart for this pink demon in doom1/2, and i believe that thing is pink

Yes- many Doom 3 enemies have been retextured to represent more closely their Doom 1/2 counterparts- check out the imp in the screenshot. I wouldn't ruin anything, but their are some pretty cool skins later on as well.

Well yeah, he was screwed anyway, so at least let him die a quick death by bullet rather than sitting there waiting for a zombie to eat him alive or get torched by an Imp.
Looks pretty good, I'll download it and hope the Steam version of D3 gets updated so I can use mods.

I dont want the monsters to disappear. How do I fix this? Its cancelling out my No Gib mod... Two Thumbs Down!

@Kunimitsu - Just add 'zzz_' to start of the .pk4 file name for that No_Gib mod.

Oh, just i wanted to say that i like VERY much this DELTA mod by tch2296, it's also already updated by me, someday i want to post it here on d3files and that it has always a place on my hard drive because its awesome !!! Rock

- All textures enhanced.
- All models skins enhanced too, monsters, weapons, all.
- All weapons brilliant.
- All weapons tweaked for faster operation.
- Flashlight mounted added to pistol and shotgun.
- Gore Flashlight effect added to current flashlight default item.
- NEW PDA animations functionality.
- NEW Menu with different music for both menu and in game menu.
- More small bug fixes and enhancements i can't remember now.
- Plasmagun idle light enhanced, awesome !!!
- Plasmagun does splash damage too and is more powerful but slower fly.
- Handgrenade have a bigger spread and is more powerful because just does splash damage.
- Rocketlauncher splash damage increased a little bit.
- Tweaked chaingun, machinegun, pistol and shotgun for more enjoyable use.
- Shotgun reloading can be stopped to be able to fire the weapon.
- Pistol faster firerate.
- BFG enhanced fireball effect while flying, also added splash damage.
