Description:
This mod modifies and enhances all the particle effects for the weapons in Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil. Changes also include new decals, model textures, and added lighting effects to weapons. Weapon effects now look much more realistic than the original effects with much more detail.
New particle effects include new muzzlesmokes, particle trails, impacts and explosions, wounds, ricochets, strikes, and various other effects for all weapons. Extras include having the sentry buddy, chaingun commando, and all Z-SEC enemies utilize the new particle and lighting effects for weapons. Exploding barrels, air tanks, func_explosions, and the bloodstone also have new particle effects!
Note: This mod does not modify gameplay in anyway. All values such as damage, ammo capacity, projectile velocities, etc. have not been changed and are "pure" to the original.*
*Debris physics, however, have been modified to make explosive effects look better per version 1.2.

Modifies: Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil Weapon Effects
This is a graphics modification for all the weapons in Doom 3 and in Resurrection of Evil
with some added extras. These modifications are primarily particle effects for the weapons, but
also include extra weapon model textures, decals, and optimized lighting effects.

Particles: Each new particle effect is named "phrozo_" at the beginning to help organize all the particles, and all the particles are stored in categorized files such as phrozo_bfg.prt for all BFG related particles, etc. New particles include muzzle smoke, smoke trials, impact and detonation effects, melee strike effects, and wound effects.
Models: New add textures for some of the weapons have been added for an extra touch. A new
"weapons.mtr" file is included to support this addition. Weapons with new add textures include the pistol, shotgun, doublebarrel shotgun, machinegun, chaingun, rocket launcher, the BFG, and the bloodstone.
Decals: All bullet based weapons leave bulletholes instead of burn marks with the chaingun
bullethole having an extra molten effect. The grenade, plasmagun, rocket launcher, and BFG
all have new decals as well. Exploding barrels and air tanks leave "frag" decals like the rocket launcher.
Lighting: Custom Muzzle flashes, projectile lighting, and impact lighting have all been added to each weapon or modified. NoShadows and NoSelfShadow material keywords were used to optimize
lighting effect, however, the added lighting effects may still hurt performance. Simply disable them to maximize performance.
Misc. Textures: There are new and modified muzzleflash textures. The BFG flare and beam are
new and should override the textures used in the game. The grabber also has a new texture for
the grabber beam.
ROE: Only a few files are required for ROE. The particles for ROE are included in the main
particle file for Vanilla Doom 3.
Extras: Z-Sec and Chaingun Commando def files have been included that include the new
particle, lighting, and decal effects.
[Notes: This is a graphic modification only. Gameplay or weapon statistics have not been

//Installation//

This mod comes in two parts; one for Doom 3, and the other for Resurrection of Evil.
Instructions:
(1) Unzip Phrozo_Weapon_Mod2.zip to your desktop and open up the Phrozo_Weapon_Mod folder.
(2) Place pak_phrozo2.pk4 in your Doom 3 base folder. This is where a majority of the mod is.
This also includes particle effects for ROE.
(3) If you have Resurrection of Evil, place pak_phrozo_xp2.pk4 in your Doom 3 d3xp folder. You
could also put pak_phrozo2.pk4 there as well.
(4) Load Doom 3 or Resurrection of Evil and test to see if it worked!
(5) Play, enjoy, rant, rate, mod, etc.
Compatibility:
You can use this mod in other mods. Simply put pak_phrozo2.pk4 in the mod folder of your specified mod and these pak should be compatible. I tested with sikkmod and it seemed to work fine for me.

DDS: I have been unable to make compressed DDS textures successfully and decided to release this mod without them. This mod is intended to enhance the graphical effects and is intended for users playing at Ultra. If anyone can make DDS textures that work for this mod, I will gladly include it in a future release.

Enjoy this mod as much as possible. I encourage users to implement these assets into other projects, as this mod only changes some of the effects. I may implement new monster particles in the future, but this mod has already proven to be a lot of work. I probably should just take a break from modding altogether for now... enjoy. Use whatever assets you wish.

Version 1.1 has a few technical changes to it from the first version, which was a test
version.
Fixes:
Fixed a loading error caused by one of the particles because the time value was too high and
caused Doom 3 to hang when loading. I lowered the value and the problem should be gone now.
Revisions:
While looking for the culprit causing the loading issue, I divided the particle file into
smaller particle files. There is now a particle file for each weapon and a few other files
for various other things.
I also edited some of the particle effects and added a new effect for the soulcube damage.
The rest of the particles are unchanged.

Version 1.2
This version contains a notable amount of updates, additions, and some other changes.
*Extras: Exploding barrels and air tanks have new particle effects based off of my "phrozo_frag" explosion effects (frag grenade). Debris physics have also been changed to add to the feel of explosions with new debris trails. Barrels and air tanks leave frag decals. [Note: there is a new burning barrel effect, but I can't get it to work when the grabber holds barrels even though I defined it to do so.]
*Bloodstone: In previous versions I didn't add any new effects for this artifact because I didn't know what to add, but now there is a new particle effect when held. It emits orange smoke with glowing blood cells and has a sfx distortion that syncs with it beating when charged. There is glowing veins and wet glossy effects added.
*Func_explosions: Func_explosions now employ a new frag particle effect. These are mainly placed and triggered throughout levels.
*Deleted some forgotten tracer textures in previous versions. Earlier attempts to make tracers more visible and brighter were not successfully, namely because of the multiple tracer entries in the material files and even when edited they were not yielding any change for some reason. I have given up on them for now and decided to delete those assets.
*Maps: the exploding barrels can be yours to test and see for yourself. The maps are: barrels, burningbarrels, airtanks, burningairtanks, and barrels_slime. Just drop down the console (ctrl+alt+~) and type "map " followed by the map name and without any quotes.
*The readme has been revised and updated.
