HellFun - File Description  


Description:
phizix has returned, and he brings along his second map for your gaming enjoyment; With this one, he wanted to have a bit of fun...that is the reason for the fun-part being added to the name of this map. What the developer has done is he played with the hell texture set. HellFun is a good choice for downloading for a bit of good ol' Doom III action, and is fun to play, and the modifications to some of the baddies throw a bit of 'newness' into the game.
    Some of the changes made for this map include:
    • Projectiles are a little faster and more powerful from the imps and cacodemons
    • Some monsters will drop weapons and items
    • The cyberdemon at the end that can be killed by normal weapons

It has also been stated by the developer that he has attempted to keep the map balanced for a more enjoyable playing experience, and the only known issue that he has found is"Blue light doesn't break after picking up mega" For those of you that like some good campaign-fun, phizix also made mention that he is working on another map, and possibly more, that will tie into this one...Sounds good, eh?

This is my second map. A little fun with the hell textures and models so thats
why I decided to name it hellfun. I have modified a few of the monsters in the map.
The imps have faster more powerfull projectiles aswell as the cacodemons. Plus there
is a modified cyberdemon at the end that can be killed by normal weapons. My system
is a little outdated so I cant run doom3 at high quality so I hope it looks ok for you lucky mofos that can :P I tried to balance the map out.


Known issues I plan to fix in the next release:
Blue light doesnt break after picking up mega

..:INSTALLATION:..
1) unzip the archive and place the PK4 file in your Doom3 base folder eg: "C:Program FilesDoom 3base"

2) start game and open console (alt + ctrl + ~ = console) type "map hellfun"

Saying about the Cyberdemon at the end is kind of a spoiler... I think i might try this. I really don't like hell themed maps, but maybe this is good.

And specially the Hell environment, very Doom and the original idea of the monsters dropping items, like health or ammo, different from other maps and with an amazing playability, i recommend carefully this enjoyable sp map !!! Rock

Thanks for the nice remarks guys. I have uploaded a more complete version which should be up on the site soon. I fixed a bunch of lighting and textures. I like the idea of monsters dropping stuff as a way of restocking as opposed to just laying items about. The only thing is that if a monster drops something in the dark you wont see it depending on what it is. Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned that there was a cyberdemon at the end,.. the thought had crossed my mind and I was debating whether or not to mention it or keep it as a surprise... maybe in future maps I will neglect to mention the presence of a boss at the end.

good map, but some problems with shadows
Design and gameplay just great
And I like idea of the monsters dropping items

well, its not so much a spoiler that you mentioned the boss at the end. there shoudl ALWAYS be a boss or a massive fight in the end of an SP map, otherwise, how would you know its the end? or how would you know there was an end, unless you put up a big sign or a timer.... now thats a good idea, a timed level, one that ended with an explosion if you didnt make it out in time, or like Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (1st of a long line of shooters) where you ran from an explosion.

Well, i gave it a try, and it was pretty nice. Had a bit hard time defeating the Cyberdemon, but i managed to beat him and no cheats were used.
