Infernal Hellknight (v1.1) - File Description  

Gallonigher has fixed some issues with his ealier submission, and has re-released his Infernal Hellknight skin for your Doom 3 enjoyment! The work put into this skin is evident, as the flesh has been twisted and scarred...and it looks pretty good, (check out the Hellknight when it is in the shadows) A look more befitting something that is a spawn of hell! The developer has also stated that, although this download will work no matter what the quality settings are on your system, for the full effect, it should be set to 'high.'

To give you an idea of what you will be getting when you download and install this skin, has included two sinformative screenshots...one is a progressive image, and the other is a side-by-side comparison. Great stuff!

Infernal Hellknight Skin (v1.0) - Gallonigher

------- Description -------

For me, the Hellknight has always been the most iconic of Doom's monsters. I imagine these creatures to have suffered the fires of Hell for almost as long as Hell's more permanent residents - which would explain why they're so tough! ;) I wanted to convey this theme in the visuals of the beast, so I've whipped up a skin that lends the Hellknight a sort of 'supernatural glow' that pulses like a bed of embers. Check it out when your 'knight is beneath a shadow or otherwise immersed in darkness. :) Its flesh has also been twisted and scarred.

------- Installation -------

1. Extract 'pak008.pk4' from the zip file.
2. Place the file into the Doom 3\base folder
3. Ensure that this pak file is the next file in sequential order. So if you already have a pak008.pk4, rename the file to 'pak009.pk4'.

To uninstall, simply remove the pak file.

------- Usage -------

If you want to check out your new Hellknight without having to rush to an area they inhabit:

1. Open any map.
2. Open the console and type 'spawn monster_demon_hellknight'

------- Recommendations -------

Although this skin will work at any quality, I recommend using a higher resolution/quality setting for the best results. It should also look pretty decent with any Bloom mod.

This skin was designed to be used without any other modifications to the Hellknight skin. However, you should be able to use any skin with this enhancement that does not utilize the heightmap (ie. hellknight_h)

I think the fire looks really really awesome. Does it pulsate or move around in any way? It would be really easy to target the Hell Knight in low light areas if the fire glowed but was a static image, however, that's just my opinion.

Thx for the feedback Scorian.

The glow does pulsate, fading in and out at an irregular fashion. Sometimes it will fade out completely, so there will be brief moments in low-light conditions, where you won't be able to see the HK until the glow returns. But generally speaking, HKs aren't the stealthiest of demons to begin with, so unless you're playing in total darkness, I don't think targeting them in these conditions will be much of an issue. wink

It does not migrate across the HK's body, however.

Simply amazing. It's like the Hellknights suddenly decided to go to an underground club and get freaky with glow in the dark body paint. Let's just hope they don't futily attempt to get freaky with me or anyone of us for that matter.Resistance is Futile!
