Once Upon a Time - File Description  


Description:
A different time, a different world... There you are. In the middle of nowhere. Your jeep just broke down next to the old complex which was invaded by enemy forces a long time before the eighth war. You need a new vehicle to escape... and they know you're here...

There are quite a few marines running around the level with a riot shield to protect themselves against gunfire. Use your wits to deal with them, hitting their shields won't hurt them! The level also supports different difficulty settings which affect ammo, health and armour lying around. There is always enough, just look around a little bit. And don't forget to sprint when it's necessary! If you look around carefully you may find secrets in both in Singleplayer and Multiplayer.

This level is not ROE compatible, but I'm planning to do a RoE conversion there, especially because of multiplayer. The multiplayer version came first. It was always planned as a multiplayer level. The singleplayer mission was meant to be a bonus, a training mission so you could get used to the layout. It turned out quite well.

* PLAY INSTRUCTIONS *

Please make sure you have the latest Doom 3 Patch installed.
If not some of the lifts might not work properly.

Singleplayer:

1. Extract 'map-thomasc.pk4' into your doom3\base directory
2. Start the game
3. Bring down the console with 'Ctrl'+'Alt'+'^'
5. If you want to change the skill setting to something else than medium type:
'g_skill 0' for easy
'g_skill 2' for hard
or 'g_skill 1' to change back to medium
6. Type: 'map thomasc/thomasc.map'
7. Enjoy!


Multiplayer (Creating a Server):
Suggested player load: 3 or more players, the more the merrier
By the way, there is a 32 player mod for Doom 3, you can find it e.g. here:

1. Extract 'map-thomasc.pk4' into your doom3\base directory
2. Start the game
3. Select 'Multiplayer'
4. Select 'Create Server'
5. Choose 'Once Upon A Time ...' as a map and the other option as you like them
6. Click 'Create Multiplayer Game Server'
7. Enjoy!


Multiplayer (Joining a game):
Suggested player load: 3 or more players, the more the merrier

1. Extract 'map-thomasc.pk4' into your doom3\base directory
2. Start the game
3. Select 'Multiplayer'
4. Select 'Find Multiplayer Game'
5. Choose a server that has 'Once Upon A Time ...' as a map
6. Click 'Join Game'
7. Enjoy!
