Parallax Extreme (v1.5 | update) - File Description  


Description:
Choice is one of the greatest things that we, as gamers have...the more opportunities we have for making a choice, the better our gaming experiences will be! And now is no different. We now have a choice in which mapping mod we will use (unless, of coarse, you have a large HardDrive, in which case, you can have multiple installations of Doom 3, and have a number of graphic enhancing mods installed. ...And once again, the mod-improving-machine has been busy! Dafama2K7 has returned with his updated and enhanced version of the popular Parallax Extreme mod!

This mod tweakes the Doom3's graphics engine by applying parallax mapping to all textures; It incorporates an improved central shader and all other textures benefit from the Simulated Parallax Mapping design. The result is a significant improvement over standard bump mapping. Parallax Extreme enhances the look of the Doom3 universe by giving surfaces more depth and realism. Using a heavily modified vertex and pixel shader and a mix of custom and simulated height maps, this mod makes surfaces look more three-dimensional by offsetting bumps depending on your view.

    Some of the changes in this version include:
    • Metal effect enhanced.
    • Optimized a little, should be much faster now.
    • Fixed various bugs.

Parallax Extreme v1.5 for Doom 3, Quake IV and Prey mod...:





Parallax up to v2.0 by Junkguy.

Parallax v1.1 by [x26]VOLAND.

Brilliant Highlights up to v0.6b by Maha-X.

Extreme Quality mod & shaders up to v1.01 by Rygel.

Parallax Extreme v1.1 (That's a mix of all this great shaders) updated now by Dafama2k7.





Features...:

- Interior environments almost real, really scary, not suitable for all people.
- Beyond the limits effect thanx to adding some Prey techniques into the Parallax shader !
- Best Parallax effect thanx to mixing the features of Brilliant Highlights shaders and the Parallax shaders into one shader !
- Now enhanced with some techniques i learned recently to be more metallic and at the same time Brilliant, enhanced specular & normal bumpmapping.





Warning...:

At the moment this mod only supports NVidia gfx cards or latest ATI gfx cards that are able to supports OpenGL32 v3.0 shaders, with at least DirectX v9.0c hardware support, but there will be a low-end version for old ATI gfx cards that only supports upto v2.0 shaders soon !




Compatibility:

- Patch v1.3.0 or higher required.
- This mod requires a Radeon 9500 or GeForce FX or any OpenGL v2.0 or higher gfx card.
- This mod is compatible with most other mods, except those that modify the main shader.

Optimized a little, should be much faster now.
Fixed bugs.

v1.4 - Beyond the limits effect added to the Parallax shaders !!! (with F.E.A.R. alike texture reflections !)

v1.3 - Enhanced faster & quality shaders.
Now compatible with both ATI & NVidia gfx cards.
Fixed config files..

v1.2 - Bettered the Parallax effect thanx to mixing the features of Brilliant Highlights shaders and the Parallax shaders into one shader !

v1.1 - Now enhanced with some UEQ techniques i learned recently to be more metallic and at the same time Brilliant.

Note...:

Always make sure there is disabled compresion for textures on D3, this is already done in the Doomconfig.cfg, but if someone wants to use his own Doomconfig.cfg make sure to have this lines on it to be able to see the Relief...

Troubleshooting:

If you see obvious graphical errors like black textures,
see below:

Make sure you are using recent video drivers.

For Nvidia cards, if updating drivers doesn't help,
do the following:
1. Go to the folder Quake 4\q4base\glprogs
2. Open interaction.vfp with Wordpad or Notepad and delete
the line that says
OPTION ARB_precision_hint_fastest;
3. Save the file.

Two questions. Did you fix the incompatibility with my card and is this compatible with Enhanced shaders 1.3?

@Pwnzor1130 - I have tweaked many things, but i haven't tested if this Parallax shaders will be 100% compatibles with your gfx card, try it and tell me anything.

And for the second question, you don't need the Enhanced Shaders with this mod, because 1 - This are Parallax shaders with textures that need them and 2 - This Parallax Extreme shaders have already integrated a NEW unpublished NG shaders, that a more advanced version of the latest Enhanced shaders into the Parallax Extreme shaders, you can't gain more quality, i have added anything and tweaked the ambient light and other important .vfp files, try it now !!! stick out tongue

This mod v1.5 can be used as a full version without updating from old PE v1.3 or updating the PE v1.3 that contains additional E3 textures, but is NOT needed in this case, ok ! smile

Parallax Extreme v1.3 full has to be installed first and then update with v1.5

Also, as always the users can select the different gfx modes for ATI (default) & NVidia pressing the keypad slash key to toggle between them.

This map scared the ***** out of me 2 times. And after I have played it at 22:30 I have goed to sleep smile and I haved a horror dream with an white alien and he scared me with a sound that you can find in:

DOOM 3/BASE/PAK003.PAK/SOUND/MONSTERS/CAVERNS_SCREAM.WAV
This sound gonna scare me every time I listening.
Please the map maker make some horror maps that gonna contain this sound. smile
I will wait for some horror maps. Thnks

You can type this in console...:

sys_lang english

reloadLanguage

reloadSounds

And the next time you load Prey with the mod, it will show the correct language texts. smile

Or change into the mod folder the preyconfig.cfg file and find the line that says...:

sys_lang spanish

to...

sys_lang english

Now, i am changing the HUD for Unpredictable, only the weapons that have an own GUI will show the ammo, changed some HUD colors, removed my added shakes in mg, cg, sh, dblsh, where too much and eat too fps, i have changed the settings for r_brightness to users taste ( 1.375 looks best for me), r_gamma 1.0, r_flareSize 1.0 and r_lightScale 2.0

I have added all the latest features of my latest mods to Unpredictable, including latest shaders, latest A.I., latest smoke in the weapons, NEW ALIEN/S idle radars sounds for BFG, pg and ft.

And i have made the pdas moveable, added blue and green lights to pg, and bfg ammo respectively.

All this is already made.

And i have to add lights to all movable pdas, computers, notebooks, monitors and other objects.

I have to make the zcommandos less ressurrect chance and fix some other things and i will then upload this updates for both D3 and ROE versions. smile

I have already fixed them, soon will be updated and re-enhanced both ATI & NVidia Parallax shaders, it's already made and amazing !!! smile
