Roachy's Map (final) - File Description  


Description:
Hey, BigRoachy again. This is the final version of my first map and I'm submitting it for more feedback and comments on things I need to work on. I have made a pk4 this time and tried to work on the lighting. It is also longer with blood trails, dead bodies, monsters, and an actual end. The level is still short though, so please don't complain about that. This is the last time I will update and submit this map (you may rejoice). Please leave constructive comments so that I can start making more professional looking maps.

Readme File:
To install:
Extract the .pk4 file into your base folder.
Then press CTRL+ALT+~ and type map roachysmap.

For an starter, the map was very good. There was good enemy placement and it never went overboard. Pretty nice. Keep up the good work. You should work on the textures tough, they felt too repeated. And add little decorations(pipes, etc) people love that.

Good map, but there was a bit too much blood, and the same kind of blood (blood trails)

P.S. In the editor, where is blood located, or do you have to make your own texture?

Blood is located under textures > decals. Make a patch mesh and put it on the ground then select the blood you want and stretch it or leave it.

Okay, I just finished playin the map (That last post I was judging from the screens lol) and I thought it was extremly good. There could of been one final 'tough guy' (ex: HK, Archvile) but two pinky's were okay I guess. Also, try and make some enemies already placed, teleporting demons get's old after a while, and you could hear them coming, so you never were reall scared.
I am a starter too, and I would just like to ask, How do you make model doors open? I can make a brush door, but not a door that you get from Models section

Oh yeah, one more thing. How do you make objects moveable? Ex: Walk into a chair and it starts moving across the room

Ok, for doors, right click the grid and find func. Then find func_door and place it. Then go into the entity properties (entity tab) and choose the door model. Place it and give it a direction to open in. (Thats what the square of numbers is for).

For moveable objects, right click the grid and find moveable, then select your object and place it.

lol, the questions keep coming, sorry if I'm annoying youfrown
In the editor, how do you give places/rooms names? Ex: You make a washroom, then at the bottom during the game, instead of unidentified, you change it to washroom or somethingconfused

I agree with LethalVirus and a little more - there are lots of maps where it's another pitch black room thats empty and ready for the good'ol teleporting demons to beam in... hmm
