Description:
In the sick and demented world of Doom, there is still hope, love, and for some, perhaps even a little faith. This Mod provides hope, at least for those (myself included) who cannot play Doom 3 alone.
Okay, this is a mod for children (especially) and adults like me who love to play Doom for its wonderful graphics and audio but who do not want the "Jeepers" scared out of us. Why not play on "God" mode, you ask? Well, you cannot die on that mode (as far as I know), which makes the game really boring. With this mod, can still die and you will, in 27 levels, at least die once, if only from "friendly fire."

Okay, this is a mod for children (especially) and adults like me who love to play Doom for its wonderful graphics and audio but who do not want the "Jeepers" scared out of us. Why not play on "God" mode, you ask? Well, you cannot die on that mode (as far as I know), which makes the game really boring. With this mod, can still die and you will, in 27 levels, at least die once, if only from "friendly fire."
Credit for this Mod goes to Nivelxe, Snowblizzard, Altroth Akenzie, Tin Man, Murph, JC Denton, DC Doom, Greatalexandros, Glen Murphy, Brian Wiener, Game_freak444, Revelation, Mase, MWoody, The chineseroom, and me, Jehanne, for assembly and some minor script editing. (Apologies to anyone whom I may have forgot to mention -- please email me!) I do not know any of these people, and yes, while I have used their code, I have modified it in certain places, and I believe that everything is in the public domain under GNU as per the ID Software license that we all agreed to when we bought our copies of Doom 3. As far as I know, I have permission from everyone to use their stuff, at least implicitly.
Check your PDA for instructions on how to use everything, via some new email characters! As for my minor changes, watch Scientist Ed closely (and be patient) on Alpha Labs, Level 2. In addition, the torture machine on Alpha Labs, Sector 4 has been "defragged," and the gross cut scene in Alpha Labs, Sector 1 has been replaced with something more "family friendly." Also, if you do not like inverted crucifixes, I think that I removed all of them. Moreover, your Marines will not die, but still talk to them (which will increase their health.) You can only play this mod on Nightmare level.
Installation instructions.
PAK101.PK4 needs to go in your Doom 3 base directory (which will cause LMS 4.0 and other mods not to work) or in its own Mod directory as a Doom 3 subdirectory.
PAK102.PK4 needs to go in your ROE directory (if you have Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil.)
ConscientiousObjector.PK4 needs to go in the ConscientiousObjector subdirectory (in your Doom 3 directory) along with PAK103.PK4, which is a mod for that wonderful mod, which can be found here:

I found the CO ending to be depressing, and I wrote an alternate ending!
ZZZ100.PK4 needs to go into your fragginfree directory if you have that mod and wish to use this one along with it.
This mod also works with the wonderful Tested mod. Just follow the directions for that mod by installing the Tested.pk4 file in your Doom 3/base directory.

HAVING TESTED.PK4 in your Doom 3 base directory will cause the Super Allies mod to CRASH!!!!

Rename the TESTED.PK4 to TESTED.BAK when not using it.
BUGS, ISSUES, and OTHER things that you should know.
1) This mod is big. Why? Because I recompiled all the maps to get the AAS files for the Marines, Bots, etc. It helped, believe me.
2) You can only play this mod on NIGHTMARE mode. Believe me, I am doing you a favor by disabling all the other difficulties. You have plenty of health and armor, and I have added ALL the medkits, armor, and souls (for ROE) back into the levels.
3) Unlike Doom 3 and ROE, you do not get the Soul Cube or full artifact starting out and have to acquire those in the normal course of the game. (Well, you DO get those things, courtesy of the game, but I remove them at each level, so if you do not have any weapons in ROE at the start of a level, don't panic! You will also lose all of your souls for some levels, sorry...)
4) In ROE when you fight the Hell Hunter 3 on the Phobos Labs Sector 2 level, be sure to use the AMS Marines, only. The bots and the UAC marines won't do anything, and the UAC Campbell 2 will cause Doom 3 to crash without any error codes. (The screen goes black, and then the program exits. Why, I don't know...probably, some "killthread" command for the monster base class is not executing properly, as all the AMS Marines in other areas of the level disappear.) Your best bet is to create two or three AMS Marines (one at a time, the AMS Rocketlauncher is really cool), let the boss kill them off, and then finish him off! The AMS Marines will also cause the game to crash, so you need to make sure the boss finishes everyone in the room (except you), before finishing him off. With the Artifact, this is easy.
5) Be sure to talk to your men, often. You will increase their health by talking to them, but not the sentry bots. Also, if they or the bots are acting strangely (e.g., "running around in circles"), talking to them will bring them back to normal, sometimes. If they get stuck, just leave them. The AMS Marines and Campbell may teleport their way out.
6) To keep your men from boxing you into a corner, make sure the AMS Marines are in a "Hold" status. If you talk to them and they reply, "Roger," they are in a Hold status and will not follow/teleport after you. If they say, "Roger, I am armed and ready," they will follow/teleport after you. The Mars City guards and bots will follow you all the time whenever they can, so keep that in mind.
7) Campbell 2 likes to teleport after you often, probably because he is so slow. Sometimes, the program will crash to the main menu, especially if Campbell ends-up teleporting into the void. Fortunately, this does not happen very often, but the rule in Doom (as always), is "Save often!"
8) Be careful using the PURPLE flashlight...it can mess the game up (for instance, causing the Monorail to leave *without* you on that level!) Shinning the PURPLE flashlight at the automated turret in Doom 3 and ROE will allow it to start taking damage, and eventually, it should fall from the ceiling. Why you would want to do this, I do not know! I included the Blue flashlight just in case you cannot open a door that you should be able to open. Also, you do not need to "murder" anyone to get his PDA -- just aim carefully towards the Void (i.e., away from your direction of travel) if possible. Remember, the blue/purple flashlight can go through walls.
9) The plasmagun radar will show the locations of your *own* men, in addition to showing the locations of monsters. Most of the time this is not a problem, as your men are following you, but sometimes you get separated from them and they will display on your radar while running towards you.
10) Campbell moves slow, only walks, and does not fire very often. To get him to fire more, position yourself between him and a monster, so that he begins to take damage. Be careful, though, it is possible for him to accidentally kill you with his BFG.
11) If your men teleport in and then disappear into the Void (e.g., fall through the floor), reload your game immediately. It could end-up crashing latter on for some levels, like the Hell level in Doom 3.
12) Be sure to set the following in the DoomConfig file to your monitors native resolution. Here's mine:

If you have any other optimizations for the Doom 3 config file, please let me know!
13) My favorite combo is 'PM,' for the Plasma Gunner, Plasma Blaster, and UAC Campbell 2. For wider open areas, add a Machine Gun bot. Do not use a Plasma Bot when you are fighting with other Marines. That bot will just end-up killing them, but he is wonderful for outdoor areas, sweage tunnel, etc. The AMS BFG marine spoils things. I never use him, but Murph did such a wonderful job with him and the other marines.
14) I have modified all the AI scripts. They should be stable. If they crash for reasons other than what I have listed above, I would really appreciate knowing that. If you can duplicate an issue, that is very important. Otherwise, it's probably a Doom 3 engine issue, and there is nothing that can be done about that.
