Trite Breeding Facility Plus - File Description

Description:
This is the extended version of the first community released DOOM 3 map, Trite Breeding Facility. I have added a whole new section to the D-Sector which was a door that was just there for the sake of making the facility look larger. Now you can explore this area, which also extends the gameplay to somewhen between 45' ~ 1hr depending on your gaming skills. Also, if you are curious as to what my current venture is in modding, look for a secret within the level ... smile

Requirements : DOOM 3 Retail Install
Map Name : Trite Breeding Facility Plus
Game Mode : Single Player
New Textures : Yes
New Sounds : Yes
New Music : Yes
Gameplay Time : 35 mins. (at least) UPDATE: Extended to 45 mins. to 1 hour.
Recommended Adrenaline : Nightmare Mode, :)

Note: This is an original DOOM 3 map. All my ideas, and all my work to build it. It has
been tested on several Nvidia graphics cards including GeForce 6800 Ultra, GeForce FX 5200
and GeForce 4600 TI. You get ultimate performance in this level using the recommended card
for DOOM 3 which is the GeForce 6800 series of cards. Using the other two cards the level
played well, but the FPS was very low in certain areas. There have not been any test's with
ATI cards, or any other cards. If you run into any issues, please let me know.

The map is what it is. Not enough of this and that? Too hard? Become a better player.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
---Extra Thanks---
My loving daughter Bianca-Marie. The one true inspiration to do what I do. Jacob Judy,
Brian, Siva. All the fans that enjoy my work. All the news sites that post about my work.
A great thanks to Ultra Violet as their Heaven song looped many hours in my headphones
during production.
Thanks to the band The Birthday Massacre. A piece of their song Broken was used for the
D-Sector music loop. You like it? Go buy the CD.
I don't like trites boss, I'm bite size.
but still, it is a very good map, once you get over the number of trites. Two Thumbs Up! keep up the good work (and leave out the spiders)
I just played your map. It's pretty frickin sweet. But, even on nightmare i still managed to beat it in about 25 minutes. overall great map. 9/10
Looks better than ever, on my 7900GTX!!!
 #7 - Is getting to 'D-Sector' "The End"? - Posted by: Rowlf (Member) on 06-05-2006 at 18:30
~~ Well done version! Played your previous one, but while remembering everything about the 1st tunnel (though it seems 'busier' than last time), esp those Hell-Knights, I don't remember much about the 2nd tunnel after meeting the commandos. Anyhow, fascinating right through the 'D-Sector'.
~~ But, after getting there, turning off the 'Anti-Grav' control, and dealing with that resulting horrible crowd-control prob, is that it? I see no way to get back out of 'D-Sector.' (I forgot what happened in your earlier version.)
looks good but even with sli 7900gtx x2 cards, my main cpu cant seem to keep up with my graphics cards processers so im stuck with 61 fps actually this map is great
 #9 - Posted by: Ice_Trey (Member) on 08-05-2006 at 16:01
doom engine is capped at 60 fps, thats prob why,
thats also why putting a number smaller than 0.1 on the
weapon_whateverweapon.script makes the weapon fire randomly fast,
but why one of the admins on doom3world.org is a novel low-iq
individual is a totally different matter ^^
Yes this is the first community-released map for d3 but IMO
could never buy into tha concept of coming across (even in the most
paranormal of circumstances) a facility at Mars base dedicated to
breeding pests.
That would be an added benefit of an Ionized-plasma levitator, to
ELIMINATE trites.
and like isnt that more of tha idea of trites & ticks in D3 anyways,
2 show a LAPSE of time since humans were in control of tha situation,
thus corpses, cobwebs & bugs...
Maybe u should make a trite CONTAINMENT facility, lol
j/k map looks great
 #11 - I finally got around to playing this last night... - Posted by: WHairston (Member) on 10-14-2006 at 09:23
This is a good map, even if it is a bit tough in places.
I went through most of the map with less than 20 health and resorted to using my pistol several times because I had no ammo of any other type left. At one point, I had a health level of 3 and about 75 bullets and had to get past a hellknight, a couple of trites, an imp, a revenant, and a couple of zombies! But the awesome part was that every time I thought I was finished because of lack of ammo, the ammo I needed would be right there. So, kudos for excellent ammo/health placement.
If there were complaints, it would have to be the lack of access ladders to enter some of the vent tunnels. I probably spent far more time than necessary trying to run/jump/crouch to get into those tunnels.
A big plus (or minus, depending on how you look at it) was the lack of instruction/direction in some rooms. In a way, this highly reminded me of the old Doom2 expansions because you were forced to solve "puzzles" to figure out what to do next. Need to destroy something in order to progress to the next room? - figure it out yourself - the "goals" onscreen popup doesn't tell you what you need to do. Need to carefully jump from one location to another to progress through the map - better look around and determine that for yourself, because it won't always be obvious. Judging from other players' comments above, if you're not aware of your environment and surroundings, you'll get "stuck" in a couple of places in this map. This could be great (for fans of the old Doom2 series) or frustrating for those who are simply expecting shoot-em-up action and are not used to the puzzle-solving aspect of the old games.
There are even a couple of comical touches in the map ("level monkey", Aliens, etc.) to lighten the mood a bit. The original implementations of the enemies in the anti-gravity room and trites that actually behave like spiders makes the map worth exploring. The variety of enemies you'll face also improves the gameplay of this map - except for some of the bosses, you'll see at least one of nearly every Doom 3 monster here.
Overall, a good map that could stand a few minor tweaks (more ladders, more storyline, more puzzles, etc.) I'd love to see this map expanded to include a "hell" area.
very long map, looks and plays very good. I'm positive this is one of the best community maps. 10/10
