Unofficial Music for DOOM 3 and RoE (2.0) - File Description  


Description:
These are unofficial songs for Doom 3 I composed inspired from Bobby Prince music in the original game, replacing midi with real instruments. (I play the guitars) It has all the elements DOOM fans want to create a more doom-like ambiance (I especially consider my music to fit during the last levels of the game).

I have composed 12 (MP3) Tracks, and I am composing more for myself, and if there is an interest from fans I will post more! Let me know.

- Engage (4'34")
- Evaded or the March of Death (3'12")
- The Infamous E1M1 (1'41")

Tell me what you guys think, I've done it with new equipment, new effects. It'll help me a lot to focus on what's good, and what could be improved for the next release.

I'm planning to remix more/less all the songs in the near future, although it's not easy to do.

Well I've remade all the music from Episode 1 of Doom for Classic Doom 3. You're doing something slightly different than me in that you're not staying 100% loyal to the originals. For what you're doing, it's not bad. I also understand how long and complicated it can be to remake that old music... or really anyone else's work.

I didn't care for your E1M1. But I like "Evaded" quite a bit. It's got a good amience to it. But for quite a bit of the guitar parts, it almost sounded like you didn't quite know what you wanted to do until you hit record. I think my only problem is the quality of the guitar playing, and you'll get better at that with time. Some of it is off beat with the drums... which is a bit sloppy. And some of it is a little bit out of tune, which I may be the only one to hear.

The first lead bends in "...and shadows too" could be better.

I'd have to say that I like this much better than your first music pack. Your coming along. E-mail me if you'd like to talk about this stuff a little more.

Thanks for your comments, SonicClang. I really appreciate seeing my music through another point of view, and a very interesting one as well !

This is how I define my music to be original by not having a plan or structure of what I'll do next until I record the basis for a song. So the randomness you hear is, well, the effect wanted!

Where might I be able to listen to your work in a stand-alone fashion, i.e. not in classic doom 3? I'd be very much interested.

If you're savvy enough you should be able to find my address. smile I can show you some of my stuff for cdoom. Also, check out my site at sonicclang.ringdev.com. Also, once the final version of cdoom is released, I'm going to put the music pack up on this server, so you'll be able to get it then.

I definitely hear the randomness in your stuff. But once you know what you want from doing the rough draft, don't you ever go back and re-record it so it's on with the drums a little more at lease? Just curious.

Nope, actually, I definitely think the more you process and rethink/expand/refine a process or an idea, the less original it gets and the less effect it has than the original intention. So more/less all my riffs are first tries (except when I screw up really bad on a chord/riff or when an fx isn't to my liking for a track). Not that much processing otherwise. I try to match the guitar playing to the tempo, but some screwups happen; usually I keep them in because I feel they are the variety of a certain track, and they represent who I was at that particular point in time. It's a part of me in there, and when I hear it again, I get the same original feeling exactly at that point in time when I played it, which is great.

Hey everyone!

First, I want to sincerely apologize for not sending new stuff for some time. I was away on another planet doing computer/electro-accoustic work, and I didn't get enough time to work on all I had planned, including the new doom pack; I've got a couple of projects going on...

So, I wanted to let you know I've been working on Doom Music pack # 3 !!! cool Most likely will be posted in the coming month(s) (still some more stuff to do); hopefully you guys will like it. Expect a MUSE-like aspect to it, i.e. piano/guitars combos and some electronica, also some accoustic stuff ! I've got some new equipment to play with so it sounds really nice.

Also, it will include more tracks !!! big grin

Hello again,

Sorry I was out of the loop [again]... Just wanted to add I'm working on another project, something brand new. I must postpone my little doom packs for a while (sorry people with iPods waiting for my next track). Since ID announced Doom 4 is a certainty, I most likely will post again once D4 is gold.

To let everyone in the loop, I got something in the works, basically I'm creating a soundtrack for a 3D project which might see the light of day [believe me, you'll know], I'm working on an electro-accoustic mix of dark electronic music and guitars, and this requires all my time. I won't be posting Doom 3 PACK 3 soon, as this would consume too much of my time currently and I feel it isn't perfect yet.

Many thanks to everyone who downloaded and listened to the stuff I created.
