INSTALLATION

the ZIP-file contains 'uruk1.pk4', 'readme.txt' and 3 screenshots

extract or copy the 'uruk1.pk4' into the base folder of Doom3
( for example: .../Doom3/base/uruk1.pk4 )

now start Doom3

open the console ( Ctrl + Alt + ^ ) and type in:
map uruk1

the Level should start...

---------------------------
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
---------------------------

IMPORTANT HINTS

only for ATI graphic card users:
I dont know why, but the ATI Catalyst drivers 5.x causes sometimes heavy performance issues on my Level. Maybe because the uruk2.map is 13,9MB big...
(my system: 3,2 GHz, 1 GB RAM, ATI X800Pro)

my doom3 is patched to v1.3 + Add-On
(but the level dont needs the Add-On to start)

don't miss the secret-room !!

---------------------------

---------------------------

EVEN MORE BLA BLA...

mapping time: 1 half year...

no fucking scripts at all, juhuu!

the light-count in the level is very good, and in no scene (without monsters) are more than 60.000 tris.

Tip: don't make your map bigger than 10MB...

part of the level is some sort of surreal thing,
so dont wondering... its more fun than serious game expierience...

ID, where is the female mancubus ?!!
I'm still waiting...

as much as i wanna commend on the visual and atmosphere, i just have to get this off my chest..........What the hell is wif the level design ??? This is like a dungeon type level wif so many levels and traps and leads to nowhere, ground that opens up only to drop u back to where u start off (forcing to backtrack) amonf aother frustrations.....

Good job on the visual, bad job on the level design itself........sorry.

agree with above. the level design is awesome and it really is very atmospheric and detailed with lots of new stuff and designs. the gameplay is a little confusing and has a lot of backtracking. i wish i could design levels this like. (maybe in two more years!!). more directions or objectives might be helpful and make it a rock solid winner. or maybe with patience people might grow into the puzzle and maze part of the map. my kudos to you for a superb job though. i found this very old school compared to a lot of the doom3 maps already out. Which isn't a bad thing, plus some of your level design was superb and there where the usual Doom1/2 traps of doorways opening up behind you. I liked! But perhaps a little over-done??
Although there was some great map design in here,it also suffered from being a little too big or maybe too confusing with all the teleporting and different ways about the map (map2!). But on the whole, excellent stuff. It's also a little bit disapointing to see it all so dark as well. I mean, everywhere was lit the same.. Any chance of a splash of colour or maybe more areas that are lit properly stick out tongue

Like Raheel says, a superb job. Ignore my moans and make more maps for doom3 smile

 #4 - interesting... - Posted by: jpshark (Member) on 09-16-2005 at 09:02
Rock Yeah, that's for the actual construction/design...superb...
I agree it's very "old school" which is why I liked it. cool
I got lost and confused... not a bad thing...
Keep making levels bro...you nailed this one! Rock

#5 - martin puzzle - Posted by: jpshark (Member) on 09-16-2005 at 09:03
Oh yeah, the Martin puzzle was a little over the top for a DooM 3 level, however, it was interesting... Devil!
