Thank You for dl my mod! :D
As you can see by the sheer size, this isnt any
revolutionary mod thats gonna "reinvent the wheel"
or turn our beloved DooM3 into some WoW game ^^
Its called "Cannonfodder" simply cuss it has a couple of
"new" zombies, by mixing and matching the original def
files i made some "new" zombies, and I decided to share them
with the world, and since they ARE slowmoving, hence the
Cannonfodder description :p
Ive bound some (not all of them!) into a cfg file,
the "treyzombies.cfg", check it out and change whatever
key binds you dont like, theres also a cpl of other
useful binds in there (commented out by default),
to "activate" the cfgfile either put a reference into
your Doomconfig.cfg or Autoexec.cfg files,
"exec treyzombies.cfg", or simply use the console
with the that command while ingame (theres no
graphical or engine settings in it to screw up
your settings, just the various key bindings to the
"new" zombies + a cpl of useful binds thats commented out
by default, so do check it out before using it :O)
But it doesnt end with "new" zombies, they also carry
surprises for you, when they die they leave behind
various stuff, such as medkits, grenades and ammo for the weps and
armour :p Not all of them do however, but most do,
and yes i am soo sure some totally uberpuritanic fanatics
will go "geez thats cheating", yeah well too bad for you then,
simply dont press the "download" button =)
The rest of you will also get slightly (VERY slightly)
altered weps, lets see, the pistol now has a
14round clip, shoots a lil faster, does a lil more damage,
upped it from 14 to 17, the shotgun has a cpl more pellets,
shoots a lil faster (from 1.333 to 1), reloads one shell at
a time but it does that slightly faster than before,
so it pretty much equals itself out,
the machinegun fires a tad faster, upped damage a lil but compensated by
a more spread, chaingun now has a much more realistic clipcapacity,
from the default 60 to 149, fires a wee bit faster and the
windup is shortened a lil too,
grenades do lil more damage and a lil more spread, removed the infamous
"bathing ball bounce" so its much more realistic in its handling now =)
Rocket launcher is left alone, i was gonna include my own
special grenade launcher tweak for it cuss to me a grenadelauncher
is more useful on Mars than a rocketlauncher, but i decided
against it cuss i didnt wanna do too much alterations in this mod,
this aint a "reinvention" of Doom3, merely a small "enhancement" mod :)
Plasmagun, apparently the most favoured gun around here,
i upped the clipsize to 70 and the total ammocount one can carry
to 950, also changed the "ammo.def" so all ammo pickups for every
ammotype is slightly more than default, but its not totally unrealistical,
theres no drastic changes, for instance the "ammo_shells_large" is now
23 instead of 16, i wouldnt call that a drastic change ( :
The BFG now has a clipsize of 6 instead of 4, slower speed so it can really do
some freqdamage, but its still very dangerous to use this indoors,
splash damage and radius is upped a tad, so beware ^^
All monsters and demons also has gotten a lil healthboost
to balance it out, and theyre all now on diff teams,
spawn a cpl of them and make sure they manage to hit each other
and just stand back and enjoy the show hehe :p
Also messed a lil with the "player.def", now you can jump a lil higher,
switched the run-walk settings so you dont have to keep pressing shift
24-7, idea from Dafama :) Also upped total ammocarryin capacity,
also changed the stamina so it never runs out, now you can run 24-7 if you want
and never get tired :p
You start off with 99 in health and 66 in Armour,
i doubt the UAC would send in a lone marine without any
protective armour whatsoever, and i changed the total armour capacity
to 400, and whenever you run over a Armour pickup it gives you 100 instead of
50, and the shards gives 15 instead of 5 :)
There are other small changes here and there, as said nothing ubermajor,
this aint like Classicdoom mod or similar :o
The major thing i have changed is for better gameplay and
less ingame lag, im talking about the Particles,
i made some realistical (i believe) changes to the
gunsmoke of all the weps, now the entire screen dont go black
from firing the shotgun, instead it gives out a nice lil NOT uberblack
thick cloud of powder reisdues (and whatever), it truly saves a LOT
of fps, esp for us that doesnt have a topnotch machine
(mines an old 2.8 ghz 1 gb ram with a gainward 7600gt agp 256 vram)
and youll deff notice the diff if you try this mod i assure you =)
Also changed all the trailsmokes from all the demons weps,
that also saves a lot of fps.
Well thats about it, my next project is a bigger mod, a continuation
off my old CCSM mod thats also available on this fine site =)
**Installation**
Very straightforward, drop the "ZZZcannonfodder.pk4" into the
Base directory inside your Doom folder and youre set :D
Or, change the .pk4 extension into "zip" (ie from "ZZZcannonfodder.pk4"
to "ZZZcannonfodder.zip" and then rightclick on it and unzip it,
then either move those folders into the doom folder (pref with a name
you specify, "whatevernameisgood-mod"), or make whatever changes you think
would enhance my mod (altho that shouldnt be needed cuss my mod is pwntastic
as it is ^^) and then re-zip it and change back the extension into .pk4 :)

in parts, but do give me credit for it, thats all i ask :-)

dafama2k7 From: (Salt (Girona)) Joined: September 28th, 2006 Posts: 3086 | Personally, i think that one of the BEST features of this mod by Ice Trey is the NEW and Much BETTER PARTICLES that does NOT make all the screen to go fully black when firing any bullet weapons, this is what Doom 3 would have had from the start, the particles are not removed but are made on a higher quality way so they do NOT fill the entire screen, so the marine can get to see the enemy enjoying the visual quality of this game much more.

Ice_Trey From: Joined: February 15th, 2005 Posts: 771 | hehe ty I always try, with my limited modding capabilities, to enable as a smooth gameplay/flow as possible, and the Particles are a major part in it, i think its sorta overlooked since most talk about the AA settings, maybe with my particle tweaks people can play with higher AA settings? I also have gibbings disabled in my mod (not in this mod tho) and instead i have all monsters burnaway, that also saves fps, i find the gibbings to have a huge negative impact on the fps, anyhow my hope is that DooM3 players will dl this fairly small mod and test for themselves to see if they also have a fps boost with the new Particles and some fun with the "new" zombies =) |
dafama2k7 From: (Salt (Girona)) Joined: September 28th, 2006 Posts: 3086 | The fixed particles, the most real behaviour of the hand grenade makes it the perfect mod to start with, requiring low cpu & gfx power and less memory is good to start any mod from this and add more features later.
Also as a zombie fan as i am, i like to see newer zombies on this mod and the screenshots taken are great. Maybe it lacks something more for the masses but its definitely a good download and i hope to see newer versions with more new features added. |

i guess one could say its aimed for new players, it doesnt change too much of the default experience, just gives a lil fps boost and adds some new zombies And yes, i will deff update this with more mixed and matched zombies + some demons that fires bfg projectiles and, if i get permission, the Quake Shambler that fires both lightning and bfg (and maybe other projectiles as well) 
Next step is prob the shotgun which i made semiauto, thats also a very basic mod |
