The mod page over at ModDb got updated a few hours ago with screenshots showcasing a new burning effect on the Plasmathrower. Interestingly enough, it casts similar colors to that of the infrared vision...

What it does is spawns flames where the plasma stream collides with the monster...the monsters actually catch on fire, haha.
